I blame the glue they used for the binding cause the same thing is happening to my copy. Pages 49-64, the last fifteen pages are all falling out, so I've got to be careful or I'll loose the Corellian HT-2200, Barloz-class, Surronian L19, and Mon Cal DeepWater-class entries. Not that I can't just turn to Gry's Stock Ships pdf and get the stats that way, but I do like to look at the deckplans and read the descriptions for both the stock and modified versions of each.

The good thing about WEG book construction is that it's VERY easy to repair... assuming you know anything about book repair, that is.

I've got some archivist materials and 85% of my repairs have gone as well if not better than expected. The other 15% wound up functional, but you could tell that they had been repaired.

Having read through these forums, downloaded and read the books I would like your comments and opinions.

I am currently writing a Star Wars novel set between the events of KOTOR 2 and The Phantom Menace.

May I use the material in these books (item descriptions, actual items, inspiration) and if so how would the authors prefer to be cited?

As I understand, most of the fan-made sourcebooks are mere compilations from all the official sources of the two Star Wars roleplaying games. You might get a better mileage out of aquiring the originals, since the reference-books usually contain only game-specific information. In a lot of cases the actual description was omitted to save space and to protect from being accused with copyright infringement.

When you write novels, you really don't need all the roleplaying statistics, but the description behind the items/ships/people...

Also the point in time you chose (after KOTOR II and before TPM) is not only a bit long (what was it again? 5000 years?) but is also one of the least documented eras from a technology viewpoint. Depending on when your novel actually takes place, you might need to come up with a lot of names yourself. Companies change over the millenia, but as far as I know there is little change in the actual technology. So a blaster pistol 3000 years ago might have looked and acted pretty much exactly like one in the era of the rebellion but insteal of "DH-17" was called "Pulse Gun L-8500" for instance...

For my part, you can use any information found in my books. The vast majority of it is just official information compiled. As Akari said, those are just stats, for writing a book you would find better info from Wookieepedia or consulting the source material.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm picking up just a few ideas in terms of specific types of items, their capabilites, the rough time frame it takes to use them. The games themselves didn't lend much to relative values of various items. I've taken a couple of the items and tweaked them. I also used some of the pictures as references to incorporate into various ship designs, a few costs and more than a fair amount of the rough capabilites listed then modifed.

In terms of names I've done some modifications. Kuat Drive Yards (where the hero works for a time) is Uuat Drive yards on another planet.
The Sith have gone from the 'bad guys' to an organization with unique values the hero initally finds appealing but then again I wouldn't want to spoil it.

As to Wookiepedia I have found it an immensly useful resource.

I doubt it will be published but when it's finished those who responded will be recieving a copy in rich text format if desired.

Thank you.

hey Gry Sarth, have you checked your sourcebooks lately, I can only get the force powers and Starships guides to work. The other ones don't show me anything but gray sheets of paper...

Are you saving them to your hard drive first, or just trying to open them from the link? Make sure you right-click the link and click "Save as..." to save them to your hard drive. Once they're downloaded they should open fine. Opening them directly from the link will either take forever or just plain not work, most times. I just downloaded a couple and they worked fine for me. I'm using Adobe Reader 7.0.9.

Hiya folks! Strangely, I posted several of my own tinkerings in their own threads, but didn't include them here! So:

The Template Collection R&E

Lightsabers

GM Quick Reference

I may be taking another crack at the planets book too. The first one I started got way too complicated with all the excerpts from the sources. I may just summarize things about each planet and then give the sources for folks to look them up on their own. There's a lot of planets in the Star Wars galaxy, so it will take a little while!

I'm currently working on a TIE Fighter source book, with lots of fan made stuff in it! Would anybody be interested in seeing it?

Sure we would. Share it with the Pit folk, if you will.
