Really though, this is a good idea. Sometimes it's hard to come up with problems and how to fix them in the middle of a battle. If there are rules scattered around in the various supplements and sourcebooks, it would be nice to have them all together. _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

So i just made up some house rules for it, as I just ran into the situation in my PBP, and rather then bog it down, i just rolled with it. I gave the pilot a choice: Reduce manoeuvrability to gain shields at a rate of 1D to 1D, or reduce space at a rate of 1 to 2D. the shields will have to be repaired later, and if he takes more damage, it goes to the re-routed power system instead (man / space) and will have to get that repaired too. Jamfke seemed to like it, so i thought id post it here as well. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Here's my first attempt at a Saga conversion. I did the Pau'an stats that have just been released in a Web Enhancement.
Pau’an
Home Planet: Utapau
Attribute Dice: 12D
DEXTERITY 1D+2/3D+2
KNOWLEDGE 2D+2/4D+1
MECHANICAL 1D+2/3D+2
PERCEPTION 2D+2/4D+2
STRENGTH 1D+2/3D+2
TECHNICAL 2D/4D
Special Abilities:
Authority: As a species accustomed to being in authority, Pau’ans gain a permanent +1D bonus to command.
Low-Light Vision: Pau’ans can see twice as far as a normal human in poor lighting conditions. All low-light penalties are halved (rounded up).
Insightful: At the time of character creation only, the character receives 2D for every 1D placed in persuasion.
Move: 10/12
Size: 1.9 meters tall on average
Source: Saga Edition Web Enhancement: The Pau’ans
Alien conversion doesn't really seem all that hard to do... What do you think of this? _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Ok, here's another Saga conversion, and this one was much trickier. It's a space platform, so basically a capital ship, and Saga rules have introduced a whole bunh of weird stuff that doesn't really relate to anything in D6. Well, here's my first draft, trying to make a direct conversion, asking for your input on it. I think the hull and shield are obscenely high, double that of a Golan space station, which is military. Also, I'm a bit at a loss as to how to handle the whole "Battery" thing... But the one thing that utterly boggles my mind is that Wizards is NOT including the length of these things in the stats!!!
XQ2 Space Platform
Craft: Bengel Shipbuilders XQ2 Platform
Affiliation: General
Era: Rebellion

Cargo Capacity: 100,000 tons, 60 large transports
Consumables: 5 years
Cost: 30,000,000 (18,000,000 used)
Hull: 8D
Shields: 4D
Sensors:
Passive: 20/0D
Scan: 40/1D
Search: 60/2D
Focus: 3/2D+2
Weapons:
3 Turbolaser Batteries
Fire Arc: Turret
Crew: 5
Skill: Capital ship gunnery
Fire Control: 1D
Space Range: 1-5/8/14
Damage: 4D
Point-Defense Laser Cannon Battery
Fire Arc: Turret
Crew: 3
Scale: Starfighter

I'll post my conversion of the station later on. I'm working on it, but I have my notes elsewhere. |

Okay, over a month later, I finally get around to doing conversion calculations. Overall, Gry, I'd say that this is one fine piece of conversion. The only place where I would have any issue is with the hull strength. I usually calculate Capital hull strengths by taking the HP/300. Here that gives us 8.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 (etc.)
That would lend me to giving it an 8D+1 hull strength. But, that's no major bone to pick, as everything else turned up spot on.
I would like to see your justification for a few of your stats. (Basically, the ones where I would have had to fudge them.) Sensor calculations baffle me. Perceptions seems to be relevant, but not to such a degree that you can have a nice mathematical calculation. So, how did you make that decision? Likewise, base attack bonus and the individual weapon bonus are some indication as to the fire control, but not in any mathematical way I've seen. Finally weapon ranges are a bit beyond me. How did you do yours? |

Okay, it's coming close to the end of the year, and we've got two WotC books to start working on conversions. Is there a list of starhips and equipment stats that need to be updated from previous versions of the statbooks?
I know I'm probably stretching myself a bit thin. I'm going to resume work on the RotS book as well as converting stats on the Starships of the Galaxy, but I'm just looking at what needs to be done.
Obviously, we've got official stats for the X-wings, Star Destroyers, and whatnot. The Sith starfighter probably needs to be updated, but is there anything else that was approximated rather than converted? |

Is the new book out already? (and has it fallen into the web yet?)
I think, with the starships, there wont be a lot of work to do. Mostly just adding some details to the ones that had been statted from scratch. I havent seen the starships list for the new book, but I think they must have dug into the old WEG catalogue a bit and brought that to the new system (like with the Ghtroc preview). _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Most of them are system updates of classic ships. However, there are a few new ones in there. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll have one for Christmas. I can start converting those shortly after Christmas. I doubt the book has been pirated yet, seeing how it only came out a few days ago. But there are a few people that have posted a complete list of ships appearing in the book.
From what I understand we have the following ships (and a few variants of some of the ships):
Acclamator
Action VI
Aethersprite Interceptor
ARC-170
A-Wing
Banking Clan Frigate
Baudo Class Star Yacht
B-Wing
Carrack
Chiss Clawcraft
Citadel
Cloakshape
Commerce Guild Destroyer
Coralskipper
Dreadnought
Droid Starfighter
Dynamic
ETA-2 ACTIS
E-Wing
Firespray
Genosian Starfighter
Ginivex
Ghtroc 720
Gozanti
Corellian Gunship
Hapan Battle Dragon
Hapan Nova
Imperial Assault Shuttle
Star Destroyer
Interdictor
Customs Corvette
J-Type Star Skiff
K-Wing
Lambda Shuttle
Lancer
Mankvim-814
Marauder
Medium Transport
Miy'Til fighter and bomber
MC80
Star Defender
Naboo starfighter
Nebula
Nebulon-B
P-38
Predator
Rebel Assault Frigate
Republic Cruiser
Scimitar
Sith Infiltrator
Sith Interceptor
Skipray
Sorosuub Patrol Fighter
Star Galleon
Star Viper
Strike-Class Cruiser
Super Star Destroyer
System Patrol Craft
Theta Shuttle
TIEs
Trade Federation Battleship
Venator
V-19 Torrent
V-Wing
X-83
X-Wing
YT Transport
Y-Wing
Z-95
I know that we at least need to restat the Gozanti and the Sith Infiltrator. But past that, I need to look at what we do and don't have sources on from the stat books. |

This one didn't have a source, and so I thought I'd convert new stats for it. I designated that it is from the Saga SotG, rather than the OCR version.
