I played d20 Star Wars and hated it. d6 was much better.
The Saga rules, which I have, look pretty good. I'm going to play a game in a week or two.
My main complaint about the game is that 1) the Dark Side isn't tempting enough and 2) you get XP for killing things. The Dark Side should be tempting and you should get XP for doing Star Wars-y things! _________________ Still funky after all these years |

I think this was done away with in the Saga edition. If I remember correctly, Star Wars is now HP based, too. |

I've played D6 and D20 Star Wars as well as 3.5 D&D, and I gotta tell ya, D6 is alot smoother. Espesially for Star Wars.
The Basicness of it is what makes it great. You don't even need to know much about roleplaying to get into it. If you played boardgames, saw Star Wars, and own pencil and paper, all you need is to pirate some dice and yer all set!You can't get more simple than that.
As for the Saga edition, I find it hard to believe you could do much to make Star Wars run smoothly in the D20 system. On the other hand, if you want to crawl through dungeons killing goblins and meticulously pouring over stat sheets the D20 system is great for that. |
