Does anyone know what Qui-Gon's position was? I know he was a master, but I'm trying to figure out if he was a sentry, guardian, consular, etc. I've looked through Wookieepedia and haven't found anything, so I think its time for some opinions.

To be honest, Im not really sure. I thought theres was something like battlemaster, adept and something else.

Im asking because one of my players, who is a jedi, is looking for a short-term teacher. He looking for someone who matches his characters personality and has the same discipline as the one he wishes to pursue. Qui-gon is the best match Ive found thus far, but I cant figure out his designation.

I'm not really fond of this whole "Jedi classes" thing. It started very much as d20 mechanic and it sorta grew into the universe. I can understand things like Swordmaster or Librarian, but all this Consular, Guardian, whatever seems a bit forced to me.

I thought that there were "types" of Jedi in D6 as well though, from the Tales of the Jedi Companion. Battle Masters, Beast Masters, Shadows, and Healers? And I guess there would be others as well. I realize that's not quite the same thing, but what do you guys think?

Yeah, you're right. Well, except for the Shadows. That was a specific order of the Knights that went behind enemy lines, so to speak.

Thats actually the sort of thing I was looking for. I have a template list for Jedi positions (e.g. naturalist, warrior, investigator, etc.) with advanced versions for this and I'm trying to figure out where he would fall.

As a side note, the templates aren't really classes, even though thats what they may sound like. Its more a recommended list of things to study. At the moment, the player I'm doing this for is looking to be a factotum because he doesn't fall nicely into one of these categories.

Your best bet is to create a Jedi Master that fits your needs. Using an established character tends to introduce all kinds of unnecessary issues Razz

The types listed in the Tales of the Jedi Companion's list of templates are Battle Master, Beast Master, Mystic, Shadow, and Healer. Then there's Kevel Raffaan, the character you play for the solo adventure in the book. His character sheet gives his type as Jedi Peacemaker. The character of Shalavaa from the solo adventure Jedi Protector featured in issue 13 of Star Wars Galaxy Magazine was listed as a Jedi Protector on his character sheet. Qui-Gon seems likely to have been either a Peacemaker or a Protector.
