I've seen it done two different ways. One is that you're allowed to spend no more than one char point for an extra dice on any given test. The other is that you're allowed to burn as many as you have / care to.
Now it's been a while since I played, and I'm looking to run a game soon. Ignoring the affect it would have on advancement, anyone have any thoughts on the differneces in effect? Preferably from playing it one way or the other. |

You could use the rules as stated in the book for how many CP you can use to augment die rolls in any given situation (2nd Ed. R&E p. 84; 2nd Ed. p. 58 )
EDIT - edited to show "58" rather than 5emoticon

Yeah, the official written rules are always a valid choice. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

i would go with the way its advertised as well. it would allow people to save up CP's do to ridiculous things, and technically earn more cps doing it _________________ The Vong have Arrived

The guidelines I use are you can burn up to two character points in most situations and five in combat type situations (dodge, parry, absorbing damage etc...)
I believe that's the standard rules though. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Not quite. Official rules is 2 CPs for skills, attribute rolls and attack damage, 5 CPs for specializations and resisting damage, as well as all sorts of parries and dodges. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Yup, though i did not know it was 5 for specialties till someone showed me.
As a linked question, since stun is not life threatning which is what the chart says for 5 pints, do you allow 5cp to be spent to resist it?
Also who here allows them to be spent on attacks/damage being delt out? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I allow them on attacks, but not damage. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

I will allow it for attacks, but as the rules say, using CPs for damage is usually considered an evil action, and should warrant a Dark Side Point. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |
