What is the offhand penalty for a character? _________________ "I've got a bad feeling about this!"

I don't know that it's in any official rules anywhere, but I always assumed -1D. Something else I started thinking about the past couple of years...what about firing a handgun one-handed vs. two-handed? I know in the Star Wars movies they usually fire one-handed, but have you ever tried that? I can't hit a blessed thing firing a handgun one-handed. Now two-handed, I can put holes in all manner of targets. But it's a huge difference. Thoughts? _________________ Arek | Kage |

Well for a weapon on off hand I use to apply -1D and raise difficulty by one level.
For 2hands melee weapon I apply 2nd revised combined action rule : I give a bonus of +2 for attaque and melee parry. _________________ Phalanks

Why two penalties? Unless the -1D is a multiple action penalty (if you're picturing a scenario where someone is firing two weapons at once). _________________ Arek | Kage |

i had a player who wanted to fight with two vibroblades. this is what we decided on; normally you take 2 actions and get two attacks (-1d), 1 attack, then evaryone else goes then you get your second attack. if you dual-wield then 2 actions and both are attacks then it would go like this; each 1 attack you get two strikes, both hits have +1 difficulty due to rushing. then everyone else takes their action and then you take your second action. if the second action was also dual-wielding then it will go like the first action. the down side is it essentially taking 4 actions so all attacks are at -4d. but you at least get to hit 2 times before your enemy. (i hope all this made sense) |

That sounds about right; I like it. Although wouldn't it be a -3D multiple action penalty instead of -4D? Unless he has a Dodge in there somewhere as well. _________________ Arek | Kage |

we disregarded the first "action free" rule since the character is rushing to attack a little quicker than normal. |

Ah, I see. Personally I try not to apply two separate penalties for the same thing (in this case rushing the action). I'd stick with the difficulty modifier for rushing, but change it from +1 to maybe +3, or at most +5. I'd leave the extra -1D stuff to MAPs. _________________ Arek | Kage |

I'm using following (I think I took them from D6 Space) two weapon fighting rules:
Quote: | Two Weapon Fighting
Whilst holding two pistols or two single handed Melee weapons, a Character may elect to try and use both weapons in the same action phase as part of a single attack action. To do this a character must make separate skill rolls for each attack and suffer a -1D (or -3) penalty to right and -2D (or -6) to off-hand roll in addition to any other penalties, e.g. Multiple Actions. Characters may target multiple opponents as long as they are in range or reach. The off-hand penalty can be reduced to -1D if the character is ambidextrous. |

We don't play where there is an "off-hand" when using multiple wepons because we assume the have trained themselves to be ambedextrious. I mean if you are teaching and training to use a lightsaber and want to use 2, you would train both hands to be equally useful. _________________ If I wanted him alive, I would have set my blaster for stun.... |
