It seems weird to me to group these two into one skill. I don't think a skilled climber would necessarily be able to jump very high. I also don't think a high-jumper would necessarily know how to climb a cliff. It seems that these are two very distinct skills. I think it would make sense to split these into separate skills, especially considering there are only five strength skills. _________________ "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." --Yoda

I agree, the Strength skills are very limited, and nether of the two you mentioned seem to be related enough to warrant them being placed in the same skill block.
I also think that they should have changed the Lift skill to something a bit more all encompassing…like say “Strength Feat” skill or something to that avail. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

who want's to waste starting D putting that crap into both climbing AND jumping, i mean, come on, you really don't have that many D to work with in the first place...
why call the skill strength feat, just declare that feats of strength require a lifting check, and besides, most feats of an attribute you just roll the attribute dice anyway
"i want to bend a bar"
"ok, roll me your str attribute against the bar's resisitance."
name a situation that you would use your strength feat |

Auron, starting skill dice aside, do you think those two skills are similar enough to warrant one combined skill? Regardless of the number of beginning D you have to make a character or how much it would cost to boost the separate skills, I think they're two distinct skills that really have nothing to do with each other.
Son of Fire, I don't know about the term "Strength Feat"... sounds too much like D&D to me... I agree the lifting skill is kinda weird. I don't know if you can really be that skilled in lifting something, aside from your God-given strength. I suppose weight lifters do practice technique though... _________________ "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." --Yoda

Weightlifters, apprentice brick layers, and stockboys can definately lift more than the average person because of their technique.
I seperated climbing from lifting ages ago. I'm not sure why they were placed together, but I agree with the list that they shouldn't be. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

the fact that a person with 1D str, can have a 13D lifting and easily lift most things that are way too big for him to touch in the first place seems kinda ridiculous to me... i mean, come on... 1D str...
as for climbing/jumping i've only seen one character in my entire career playing starwars who put anything into that... he was one of my specforce infiltrators, and he specialized in climbing |

I agree, that doesn't make sense that someone with a very low strength can lift huge objects. Technique can only help so much...
Same here as far as boosting that skill. I think I had a sniper character once who boosted it so he could "find high ground". _________________ "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." --Yoda

Nobody in your urban campaign takes climbing!?"
A city like Nar Shadaa (The VERTICAL city!) is the perfect place to use climbing...think about it. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

hell ya, my infiltrator was so good at climbing, he didn't even need rope and crap, he was a literal spider man
makes for some very interesting infiltration when the infiltrator can climb up a sheer wall to get to the roof |

Boooooooooring. Give them an enemy they can't reach and perhaps they'll improve. (Just a suggestion of course.) This vertical enemy could be an excellent climber - no, a native of the vertical city! But a poor shot. This way he challenges the players to do something new but isn't too dangerous to them. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.
