I can't even imagine how difficult that would be to maintain. Also it would need some sort of coolant system or vent system as it wouldn't be able to disapate the heat it creates with it's servos through the lava dragon scales. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

While i have not been told if it is a power suit or not, the player in question uses power suit ops for it, since (IIRC) he was told it is big enough to qualify as one.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

It would on;y qualify as one if it has the power enhancements of one. Size isn't that important. Does it have servos and its own power source? If not, it's not one. |

Exactly, otherwise it's just a suit of amour _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Ok.. sorry about this, but I've gotta ask... this is a group you've ... joined? are running? aren't in, but are getting info about?
If it's the median, then you have the right (and responsibility) to just say "no". If it's the former or latter, you might want to question the GM about this. Various people are bringing up VERY good points - namely: a) how the hell did they get the dragon out of the lava (and if they didn't, how did they get the scales out of the lava)?; b) if it is off a dragon, then the scales are either very tough or very big, which leads to MAJOR penalties for making it on the one hand and/or wearing it (dex penalties) on the other; and c) how much TIME (and money) did it take to make this armor? (as much as I hate to bring d20 into this, have you ever looked at how much TIME is involved in making armor and/or weapons according to the rules?)
Again, these are just things to think about. Personally, my knee-jerk reaction is: yes. Too powerful. Even if the character has good reason to have it, it doesn't protect the whole party. So, when Big Bad Bounty Hunter hears about this armor, that character survives while the rest of the party is mowed down w/ thermal detonators...
Just my thoughts on it of late... _________________ "Love like you will die tomorrow. Hate like you will live forever." - Unknown |

Its an ongoing campaign ran by a group that hits most of the mid west conventions, inc Origins, fire and ice, Gencon, Pentacon etc. As such, we have many gms, authors of modules etc. Basically if something makes it past an editor and into a module (or from a personal initiave at a convention with an Interactive) then it is good through out the campaign... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Yep, it's too powerful. Have someone dump some acid on him and it ruins the armor. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Plus, IIRC the hide itself is actually a crystalline material. In addition to requiring a superb armorer, you might also require a superb jeweller to be able to properly handle the material... |

Actually, since he is rather well known (barbel shockboxer of some repute and renown) i was thinking the imps might set a trap for him where instead of using lots of blasters, instead they go with liquid nitrogen filled missiles... Saturate the area with them and freeze his butt into his armor. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

the bottom line is he would endanger everyone around him with it, and puts the group in serious jeopardy. When word gets out everyone will be coming.
example One time I had a low level smuggler that shot and killed a well known bounty hunter while this bounty hunter was attempting to save a freind and was in the process of mowing down 8 stromtroopers and officer and me. after he shot 9 of them I just draw my blaster and popped him dead. When word got out, I was constantly on guard becuase the story came out that I got in a altercation with the bounty hunter and we got in a showdown and I was faster on the draw. I was constanty on guard from bounty hunters, gunslingers and hunters. It was crazy, but that is just a minor example of what happens when word gets out. Side note: makes for get gaming and very little planing on the GM part, if he runs out of story ideas just throw a couple of hungry baddies at him, the rest of the party will just be target practice. |

Why not just use gas or something like that?
If it's only amour (not a environmental suit as well) then the gas will work wonders.
Either that or have an esoomian shock boxer with illegal cybernetic strength enhancments challenge him. After a few punches the crystalline amour would probably shatter. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

he he he "Sunder" his amour. eventually it will take some damage. you could have him get hit with a ship weapon too. how much will it cost to repair the rare armor, probably impossible IMHO as there is no replacement parts _________________ The Vong have Arrived
