Every time i think of force pikes, i keep getting to mind those staves with a small axe like blade near the tip... but looking at the equipment guide to weapons it just ooks like a big pointy stick.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I think what you're thinking of were vibro-axes with force pikes as the handle. I could be wrong though. Didn't some of the Weequay working for Jabba carry some like that? |

YEah, I think what the Weequay had (and what Lando had) were vibroaxes. The Force Pike is what the Imperial Guards were holding, though there are other designs that pop up in the comics and illustrations as well... but that's the general idea. |

Actually it's a largish, greenish aquatic animal that can hurl itself from the water and dispatch a foe with one quick bite of its powerful jaws. |

Wookieepedia says that in addition to the "force" part of the weapon (that does stun damage), force pikes have a vibro-edged element as well. It's not a very overt feature on the ones that the Royal Guards carry, but the Weequay could have been carrying a different model. Checking my Movie Trilogy Sourcebook, both of the Weequay were indeed carrying force pikes. So either it's an error on the part of the powers that be, or it's a different model of force pike (with a more obvious vibro-edged blade). All references I can find excluding the weapons carried by the Weequay refer to the SoroSuub Controller FP; the weapon carried by the Emperor's Royal Guards.
Edit:
I was just flipping through my Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology (not the New one), and on p. 65 it has a "Weequay ax" pictured under the entry for "vibro-ax", with the model listed as a SoroSuub BD-1 Cutter Vibro-Ax. It looks just like the one from the movies (like a voulge or lochaber axe). So I guess WEG got it wrong. |

No, you're right, I recall reading that in the past... however, I believe that somewhere the things the Weequay had were used as an illustration for an entry on Vibroaxes.
EDIT: hmm, was your edit there before I posted?? I dunno, horray for repetition |

The Emperor's Personal Guard (The guys in red that Palpy motions away after Luke sees him) carry force pikes.
They're a Powered Spear, with a Vibroblade Tip that is able to deliver a stun blast like a Blaster.
Hard to use, but very effective.
My Character Crunch swore by his. Even used it as a throwing spear a number of times. |

I like the fact that you only have to get the tip within 4cm of your target to deliver a stun charge. I'd have too much fun trying to get it to arc at maximum distance. |

That looks really slick...the statuette, I mean. I bet they're more expensive than I'd pay, but still. Very cool-looking. |
