The P2 looks like an R2, writ large (*VERY* Large).
You can see an R1 in "A New Hope", it's the big, black, slow-moving, Bullet-Shaped droid that gets off the Sandcrawler when R2-D2 and C-3PO are sold.
R2s look like R2-D2 (And, had you not known that, you deserve a smack.).
R3s are R2 Units, with Transparent Domes.
A R5 had a "Faulty Motivator" in "A New Hope".
From then on, it's gets confusing. |

My scanner's down, but there is a pic of both in The Essential Guide to Droids. As mentioned, one appears in ANH, the other looks like a giant R2 unit.

The R1 is just a gigantic (2.2m) R2 droid. That's about all I can tell ya.
Oh, and by the way, Obi-wan Kenobi's R4 *IS* an R4, it just had it's flowerpot-head replaced with an R2's head.
Even more confusing.

Are you sure? Cause I'm looking at the Essential Guide to Droids and the P2 is the giant R2 unit the R1 looks like one of the droids the Jawas had in ANH.
