Couple of questions that have me a bit confused.
1. In the original 2nd Ed book there is a template for the "Young Jedi". The "Young Jedi" has a total of 12D in attributes and 3D in special for all the Force skills. What happened to the other 3D? I compared to the "Failed Jedi" and "Alien Force Student": each with 18D total between attributes and force skills. Is this an error or did I miss something?
2. If I am reading the rules upgrade correctly, then the force user only gets 1 force power on the first die. Does that mean that they only get one power per die or just the first? Does this continue when they start training? Please help me understanding this.
3. What happens when characters that have a Dark Side Points use them to get the 1D bonus per point? Do they get another Dark Side Point? Do they have to roll for corruption? Both?
4. Let's say that a character is trained by a master and increases his "Control" skill. I know that he can get a new "Control" power (chosen by his master); however, what if he wants a "Control + Sense" power? Can he do it? Does he pay 5 CP for the 2nd power?
5. I have seen another thread about droids and force points. This is opinion only: Do you let have droids have force points? _________________ Han shot first!
End of discussion. |

1. The 2nd Ed Young Jedi Template is quite clearly a mistake, since that same template was later corrected in the R&E edition ,adding 2D to PER and 1D to DEX.
2. One Force Power for the first dice, and then one power per additional pip increase.
3. If you accept the bonus for Dark Side Point, than you have to make sure your "bonused" action is utterly and unquestionably "light" goody-goody, otherwise you get another DSP. Refusing the bonus, however, raises all Force difficulties one level. I just LOVE this mechanic.
4. If you want to "buy" a "Control+Sense" power, you have to increase (and pay for) both Control and Sense. If you only increase one of those Force skills, you can't get a 2-skill power.
5. I don't think that's a matter of opinion. Droids do get Force Points, R2 and 3PO both have one, and if they do, why shouldn't your players?
Hope that helps. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I recognize that by asking the following question, I will derail my own thread but I can't help it:
Why, other than game balance and mechanics, do droids get force points? They are NOT alive. As creative as R2 is, he is still not part of the Force.
I smell a house rule for my game. _________________ Han shot first!

It's really a game balance issue. Character Points are also explained as a minor manifestation of the Force, so would you strip droids of those too? _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Going with that derailment - So any ideas why those who get cybernetics get cyberpoints which will eventually (if they reach 6) basically eliminate a characters access to Force Points.
Probably just game balance, but is aways interesting to get others thoughs. _________________ "What a wonderful smell you've discovered" |

When starting out, they learn 1 power for each force attribute. BUT when training up, they learn a new power each PIP of advancement, OR by just learning the power on its own.

YUP. If they take the darksides seduction bonus, then they earn another point, unless the action they are doing is of pure intent and heart. EG using a force point to grab a fallen comrade and get the heck out of there. How ever if it was used to boost combat stats to quickly kill the enemy, that would not be a pure of heart action.
And since they gained another point they must make another corruption roll.

Nope. He must also have advanced sense to learn a con+sense power, as those are considered 'two slots'. If i increase control i can learn a 1 slot power from the control list. If i increased both control and sense, i can learn 2 slots worth of powers.. whether that is a poer from control AND then a power from sense, or a single power that is both control and sense..
