1. Are there any official rules for the use of a squirt gun. I have an idea for a game I want to run where group is forced to land on a relatively speaking low tech planet out of the normal hyperspace lanes. Rather than using slug throwers they use squirt guns with a rather nasty but not long term neurotoxin.
2. Are they are rules governing poison? _________________ Han shot first!

non fatal poisions do stun damage. as for "squirt guns" there are no rules that i know of but i would say just make them a very short range weapon. |

I *think* I've seen one or two poisons that affect Attributes, and a few that do stun damage. I have not seen any hard and fast official rules on their use/application. Given that there is the Force Power Destoxify Poison, it's something that WEG recognized as something to include in the game, they just never wrote/published the rules.
As for squirtguns, yeah, very limited range (5-10m max isn't unreasonable). Depending on size, "ammo" could be anywhere from, say, 5-50. It might require a new skill to use, however. I can't see them being classed as blaster, firearms, projectile weapons or archaic firearms... |

There are a bunch of poisons in my "Equipment Stats" pdf. Some of them WEG, some of them d20 converted. As for a squirt gun, maybe you could use a flamethrower as a basis, right? All it really does is squirt flamable fluid, that just happens to be on fire. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

hmm, i have been thinking about this, and the current hand pumped ones dont have much range before the spray gets dispursed.
now this is where you have to find out how much has to get on your skin to be affected(a few drops to drenched)
the flame throwers seem to have a range of 10m, but that liquid is burning away, and you would not see it hit the ground. But if you think about it, a flame thrower can reach up to 10m while a highly flammable liquid is burning, so I personally think you can get further then 10m with the proper compression.
Granted the hand held versions would either have long range or lots of charges, and the backpack versions would have both.
ps just thought of something else.
flame throwers normally go on the principle of spraying the area, as aiming them is quite hard (water doesnt fly as straight as a bullet) so something there may have to be worked out.

he said it was a low tech world. depending on how low tch will depend on how far liquid based weapondry will fire. i think a 10m long range is prety good unless the race has some more advanced pressurizing techniques. |

Remember, though, that toxins are often quite expensive and that something like a flamethrower, or even a modern super-soaker watergun have very high discharge rates. Chances are you wouldn't have enough poison to make a single shot with a system like that. Something with a capacity like a classic trigger-pump watergun would be more appropriate for toxin delivery in that manner...
I doubt that there would be many toxins that would fall into the "drenched" category, that means of delivery as a vector just wouldn't be sensible. The sheer volume needed to use it would be a deterrent in itself, let alone other logistics involved. |

hmmm, if you are going with squirt guns, then they have a way to compress air (at least slightly). so you could go with dart guns and a poison tip....
but yes Ankhanu, that is quite true. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Indeed, dart guns would be a much more sensible way of delivering poison attacks. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I like the idea of dart guns. That would be feasible with the level of tech I envision.
Also, the "poison" isn't manufactured as it is abundant on this world (extracted from a common weed), just that some of the population (~10%) have a natural immunity to it. _________________ Han shot first!

Meh. I think this is where we can pay more attention to the Fi than the Sci in sci-fi.
Stokhli Sticks threw a sticky goo at opponents that hardened with contact with the air. Why not have a fish on the planet that has a gland with a very powerful neurotoxin. Even diluted 1/10th it can still be leathal to humans? Unlikely, but I also think the idea of moving objects with your mind is pretty unlikely too... it still happens in my game. |

That's exactly what I was going to say.
And if you've seen a pressurised flamethrower they can actually spray over quite some distance.
Accuracy is usually determined by how much ammunition is used in a burst. Think about trying to hit someone with water from a garden hose. It's fairly easy if they're nearby but you 'waste' a lot of water. Also ducking behind cover is no good when the ammuntition can just 'rain' down ontop of you. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Perhaps I am feeling dense because I have had more than my share of full shifts; however, I don't know where to find your PDF. Please direct me to the correct location. _________________ Han shot first!

You look under the "Tools" Section... the posting is at the top under "Fan Made Sourcebooks". The links to the books are on page 9 or so...
Definitely pick ALL of the up!
Gry did EXCELLENTLY in putting them together!
and Krapou was nice enough to host them on his site.

Actually, it's all on the 1st page of that thread. 4th post. And once again, thanks for the compliment. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |
