Daevon looks around for cover and finds he has a couple of choices he can make for cover. He's pretty close to the Raptor, so if he moves quick enough he can probably get up inside the ship before the speeder blows. Off to his right appears to be an over turned tree with a berm of dirt in front of it that might deaden the impact of anything thrown at it.

Casting about for any cover, Roth now understands the danger he was sensing. Letting his Danger Sense drop, he Concentrates, then reaches out to begin to Absorb and channel the energy about to be released into a shield to protect his position.

((OOC- If he can siphon off enough energy, perhaps the vehicle's power plant won't go critical. If not, there will be more energy to siphon and channel into a shield...))

Roth brings the Force to bear and can feel energy from the embers flowing into him, but he can't feel any of the energy from the vehicle. He tries using what little energy he's getting to his advantage, but can't seem to create a shield with it.

Then without warning he's tackled and knocked to the ground by Siegfried. The young Chiss slicer had climbed down from the tree when Roth had told him Syllri was probably driving the speeder. Then upon hearing the warning of the imminent explosion he'd determined his best bet for suvival would be with one of the Jedi.

Within a minute of Siegfried's tackling Roth, the speeder explodes. A quarter meter long chuck of metal landswhere Roth had been standing before being tackled.

Syllri barely gets halfway towards the nearest of his companions when the speeder blows. He feels himself lifted off his feet and tossed like a rag doll for a few meters before landing face first in the dirt. The same dirt that made it impossible for him to reach his friends before the explosion. The soft dirt from the Raptor's crash actually cushion's his fall, leaving him with only a few scrapes, bruises, and minor cuts, but otherwise unharmed.

Daevon quickly dives behind the log moments before the explosion. He feels the very top of the dirt berm fall over onto him as the concussion wave passes by. But it's hardly more than a few handfuls worth of dirt.

Siegfried coughs out an apology for tackling Roth and sticks close to him, looking quickly around to survey the surrounding area.

Daevon's head pops up over the log, meerkat like, and looks over to where his master was. He immediatly leaps over and starts running to his master.

Standing and brushing himself off Roth replies, "Don't mention it. I was so busy trying to draw the energy out of the power plant of the speeder that I'd have been hit by shrapnel if you hadn't. Thanks."

He then moves to join up with his other comrades and compare notes.

"Unfortunately he was nabbed by our 'friend's' forces," Roth admitted. "They went thataway," he added, pointing in the direction the dark sider and his men had retreated.

Roth looks at Syllri, a bit incredulous, then down at his midsection. Then taking into account that he's been basically ignoring his wounds, he first strips off his robe, then his midnight blue vest, which now has a big gaping hole in it. He turns to fully face Syllri and says, "Does this count?"

"We'd better see about getting you patched up before we go looking for him." Syllri then looks at the Raptor. "We should also see if we can raise the ship a little. Enough so we can get the speeder out a little easier."

"Daevon, see if we don't have something aboard the ship to treat Roth's wounds," Sylrri quietly tells his Padawan. He then turns to Roth and indicates Siegfried. "Does he know about Daevon? That he is not what he appears to be, that is."
