Well the pdf is a good idea (and I find the layout pretty good too 8) )

However I'm just not comfortable with the .45 pistol doing almost the same damage than the Barett .50BMG (if we add the +2D for scale). I'm not a gun expert, but I have worked on a firearms adaptation for GURPS and learned that the .50BMG ammo packs at least 10 times the energy of the .45 ammo Exclamation (in fact is is more like 30 times)
Even the .50AE (the ammo of the Desert Eagle) is 10 times less powerfull than .50BMG.

I don't say that damage should be proportionnal to the muzzle energy, but it could help to find which gun should be more or less powerful Wink

More info there : http://scottgs.dynip.com/pictures/Firearms/Reloading/General%20Cartridge%20Information%20and%20Metric%20Ballistics.htm

There are good reasons for the muzzle energy of the .50BMG being so high compared to the .50AE. Mostly, the .50BMG has an effective range in the Barrett 20 times that of the .50AE in the Desert Eagle Exclamation The further a bullet travels, the more energy it loses more rapidly.

In an attempt to keep the whole thing simple, I admit I have generalised the stats a fair bit, but that was intentional. If you don't like the damage for the .50BMG - hey, you're the GM - change it for your games Wink

I did use the WEG damage for the .48 Pistol as a guide to the damage I should use for the .45 and .50 Pistols - I was trying to keep things close to the mark as I could with WEG.

==>> BOOK PREMIERE <<==

Well, sorta... This is a half-hearted premiere of a heck-job. I'm talking about Starships Stats - Revised & Expanded here, the book that's been crammed in the freezer after an art embargo. Well, after a long while I wen't ahead and finished the book, with all the disputed art inside, for my own personal use. But now I see that others could also benefit from this book, and there's a demand for it. Since I can't publish the REAL book with all that disputed artwork, and since I don't really have the time nor the heart to re-edit the whole thing without those pictures, the result which you'll have to live with is the b@st@rd*:

STARSHIPS STATS - REVISED & EXPANDED (CENSORED EDITION)
http://krapz.free.fr/data/Starships_Stats_R&E_censored.pdf

Thanks to you Gry.
Just an editor note: on page 24 the Pursuer Enforcement ship seems to lack the first half of the data (name, allignment, sources ecc..) The stats start only with Nav data...

Thanks again for the effort, in any case... Smile

Yikes! That's a ghastly mistake. It seems I put the ship's picture on top of the beginning of its stats. With 336 pages, one such mistake is bound to happen. Sorry folks...

Hey, Gry, now that you're not in turmoil over the Starship R&E anymore, are we going to see that remake of The Phantom Menace Sourcebook? And maybe the awaited AOTC Sourcebook?

Well, I'm still very much in turmoil trying to graduate in college. But that ends (for better or worse) in 3 weeks. After that I hope to be able to get back on track with my SW projects. The Phantom Menace Sourcebook (Galaxy Guide 13) is a definite prospect for the future, but before that I have to finish the halfway-done Ep3 book (which I imagine is what you meant by AOTC SOurcebook, since that's been out for a long time).

So, the new Phantom Menace Sourcebook will be an improvement of the existing sourcebook ?

I mean this one : http://www.rpg-domain.de/TPM/foreword.html

Not really. I'd like to make a completely independent book, based on the model I created for the Ep2 one. All the stats would be WOTC conversions, where possible. And I'd use all the more up-to-date info from the official site, new books, wookieepedia, all that.

As much as I like the old TPM Sourcebook, I feel it doesn't blend very well with all the info we now have of the prequels.

So, yes, it will hopefully be a big improvement, but I wont be using that book as a starting point.

what i think would be really cool is a NJO source book. Thats when the Jedi are back in style, and the Vong are in to get everyone. Life isint about solving the small problems, everyone is fighting for their very life. id be willing to help out with that book Smile

Well, count me out of a NJO Sourcebook. I don't really care much for the series, and have little desire to delve deeper into it. At most, I might be able to land a hand on the editing of the final document, but nothing beyond that.

But more power to anyone willing to work on it. I know there are many people who would find this book invaluable.

I wouldn't be much help. I tried to get into the books, and it just didn't happen for me. Sorry.

Unfortunately, while the storyline itself wasn't bad (especially since it gave me a lot more to read about the Jedi), some of the actual writing was quite poorly done. I've been rereading the series (up through Traitor, which is the last book I bought), just to brush up on some of the events listed within.

I personally would LOVE to have an NJO sourcebook. And believe me, if I had the time and equipment to work on it, I'd be first on the sign-up sheet. I think it would be a great reference for Jedi AFTER ROTJ, even if the GM decided to do an Infinities style campaign, where they perhaps did away with the Yuuzhan Vong, but wanted to have a new crop of Jedi in place for plot points, etc. in their adventure. Plus, there are those of us actually running IN an NJO campaign who would be able to make use of such a resource.

So, for anyone willing and able to undertake this project, more power to you!

Question regarding the Starship source book - it keeps referring to the dovin basal stats for the Vong ships. Where would one find stats for this?

Yes, I've been getting this question. The Dovin Basals is something that I should have included on the Equipment Stats book, but alas!

Anyway, here are its D6 mechanics, courtesy of Gary Astleford's Rebellion:

Dovin Basals (NJOS, pages 32-34)

Dovin Basals provide Yuuzhan Vong vessels with lift, propulsion, control, and damage ablation through the manipulation of gravitic fields. These fields degrade the conventional deflector shields of vessels they are pursuing. This reduces the pursued vessel's Shield rating by a number of dice equal to the Yuuzhan Vong ship's own "Shield" rating each round until they are depleted. Against capital-scale ships, this shield loss is reduced by 1/3rd. Yuuzhan Vong ships can combine their efforts, reducing an opponent's shield rating even faster. The ship's shields can be restored, but this cannot be accomplished until it breaks pursuit.

Because a Yuuzhan Vong ship's dovin basal powers both propulsion and shields, its shield rating is reduced depending on its speed. Modifiers to a Yuuzhan Vong ship's Shield rating are listed below, depending on the ship's speed and/or maneuver. If an action would reduce the ship's Shield rating below 0D, it cannot be attempted by that ship.

Ship Speed ___ Shield Modifier
Cautious _____ +0
Cruise _______ +0
High-Speed ___ -1 pip
All-Out _______ -2 pips

Dovin basals can also be used as tractor beams. The ship's dovin basal Shield rating can be diverted, in whole or in part, and used as a tractor beam's damage roll (see "Tractor Beams," SWD6, page 127), adjusted for scale as normal. Of course, this reduces the ship's Shield rating so long as the dovin basal is being used as a tractor beam.

In addition, dovin basals can be used to create gravity wells in one fire arc, in much the same way as an Interdictor cruiser. While doing so, the Yuuzhan Vong ship's dovin basals cannot act as shields.
