Actually, Kage...

According to the 2d Ed, R&E, Droids can NOT be force sensitive...

"Droids may not be Force-sensitive
and may never have Force skills."

p. 236, right column, just under the pic.

as for 4LOM learning the force, Wookiepedia only says that:

"From careful study of Zuckuss, 4-LOM planned to extend his programming and learn the ways of intuition. 4-LOM's goal was to equip itself with every skill possible to succeed, including the Force."

That seems pretty straightforward to me...

Plus, in every place I've looked, all the books I've been able to find, there isn't any mention of any droid being force sensitive or being able to use the force in any capacity.

My knee jerk reaction is that it MIGHT be possible for a brain transferred into a robot body or possibly a Human Replica Droid (like Guri) to MAYBE be able to use the force, but it'd be costly from a player point of view...

A brain in a droid body isn't a droid, it's a cyborg. B'omarr Monks are an example of this. General Grievous and Kligson (link provided below) are two more examples.

Iron Knights are Shard Force Users inhabiting droid bodies, so that's one way around the 'droids can't use the force' rule. Another is to construct a droid that uses technology to fake force abilities. It would have to be large and very high-tech to contain all the necessary gear, but some creativity should allow a GM to create a droid that does a fair imitation of a Jedi or Sith. I could whip one up, if you like.

That would be kind of neat. A droid with enough hidden gizmos that he actually thinks he's a Jedi Knight. Let's see:
- Tractor beam for Telekinesis
- Mind probe for Affect Mind
- Sensors for Life Sense
- Cased systems and energy collectors for Absorb/Dissipate Energy
- Independent self-repair system for Heal
- Energy discharge system for Force Lightning
- A sufficiently advanced droid brain and top notch body would account for powers such as Enhance Attribute, Short-Term Memory Enhancement, Instinctive Astrogation, Translation, Force Jump...

If you could fit all this into a human-replica droid, then you would easily fool people into believing he's a Jedi.

It all depends on your attitude towards sapience (not sentience. Sentience has to do with the ability to feel, Sapience is the ability to think). I don't agree with the view of "cybernetics as dehumanizing" prevalent in the Star Wars Mythos, and I have no problem with a droid force user, as long as we're talking a really developed droid. I personally that magic (or the Force, in Star Wars terms) is much more an informational phenomena than a biological one, and so droids having silicon instead of carbon based bodies is immaterial to me.

Granted, this is a completely non-canonical view. I understand the reasons behind the ethos of it in the Star Wars Universe, I just disagree with it. If, like me, you think that droids have the potential to be more than "just machines", go ahead and include Force-using droids, but I would make it a hell of a lot harder for them to achieve Force potential than it is for biological entities, simply because they have so much to overcome.

Hee hee... It's funny that you mention that, because I'm playing a character who is doing just that. He's a droid with delusions of granduer. He's recently gotten some hardware that does basic scanning, and he's taken to saying, "I sense five life forms inside the dwelling," and things of that sort. Pretty soon I'll make it more blatant with, "My Jedi senses are alerting me to..."

I can't wait to see if the GM will let me install a little shocker like R2's. My character will be going dark side. Smile

Hehe, cool. Try out one of my other suggestions later on. Like a miniature tractor beam concealed in his arm that can lift small objects... The droid would concentrate, wave his hand and levitate the datapad, exclaiming some canned jedi philosophy.

Now what if the droid had an organic computer as it's brain like the Mon Cal computer from Fantastic Technology? Then could the droid be Force Sensitive?
