Exactly, Vanion. That Force Sensitive component is why I'd be leaning very heavily toward having the character work with the Jedi in the party. That will cover the Force side of the house, since the character's a droid. In fact, the Jedi could put together programming (especially if they have someone in the party proficient in programming or better yet a slicer) to 'train' the droid how to construct AND use lightsabers. Sure, part of the 'use' training can be sparring, because droids add to their programming through experience.

I do think that if the droid is technically proficient (which stands to reason, being a droid) that he might actually take away some of the time needed to assemble the components; being a droid, their sensors can align parts more precisely than most sentients; what a Jedi can accomplish through Sense, the droid can do through Sensors- in this case, at least, to a certain extent.
