				| My players just bought a 2-1B Med Droid, and i was trying to clarify the rules.
They dont have a bacta tank, so when you roll your first aid, you add your medicine (stats are below). But i am curios what Injury/ailment Diagnosis is for. Now if they did get a bactatank, i know you have to roll your medicine for that, but he has a bacta tank operation skill, so is that added to the medicine skill when rolled?

 DEXTERITY	1D
 KNOWLEDGE	2D
 Alien species	5D
 MECHANICAL	3D
 (A) Bacta Tank Operation	5D
 PERCEPTION	3D
 (A) Injury/ailment Diagnosis	3D+1
 STRENGTH	1D
 TECHNICAL	3D
 First Aid	6D
 (A) Medicine	9D

				| Injury/Ailment diagnosis allows the character to properly determine the ACTUAL cause of the problem, and to then know how to properly treat it. If you botch this roll, you might think a character has swine flu and give them the medicine for that, when in reality they have Nawrokian Takkor Fever, a completely different ailment.
This skill also helps prevent them from getting malpractice suits...

				| An example is the PC has been envenomated by an unknown creature. He's still alive, but just barely. The other PCs describe the creature to the 2-1B and the 2-1B makes its Diagnosis roll to properly identify the creature and administer the appropriate antivenin.
Another example is the PC has collapsed for no apparent reason. You as GM know that it's because a bounty hunter arranged to have his drink poisoned six hours ago, but the other PCs don't know that. They take him to their faithful droid and it's up to its diagnosis roll to figure out what the real problem is.

				| Or like i had..
Pc's get infected with disease X on planet Y, but don't know it.. The disease is mild and just has a rash associated with it, but when it crosses with infection Z, it becomes threatening... Z on it's own, is just like a real bad case of the flu and diaoreah..

				| Basically it's the ability of the doctor, med droid, or whomever to examine a patient, catalogue the symptoms, and put those together to determine the cause. Once the cause is known, then it's also the ability to properly proscribe medication to counteract the problem. | |

				| so what's the Bacta Tank Operation skill for, since all you need to activate a Bacta Tank normally is Medicine? | |

				| My thought is that you need it to program the bacta tank to help speed the healing of the specifically diagnosed problem.
Medicine is more along the lines of diagnosis and doing surgery and such, as iirc, bacta tanks can heal wounds, but they cant take out bullets from slugthrowers and the like...
