Yeah, I'm fine with that. I don't mind if other people help out. Saying the "right" thing still doesn't mean that I disregard the die roll, in any case.
With new people, I just want to let them know that I will be interested in what they say/how they roleplay, and that they don't have to feel embarrassed - we aren't going to make fun of anyone. A new player might say, "Uh, yeah, my guy says something that persuades him," and then I (or another player) might jump in and flesh that out. _________________ Still funky after all these years |

I typically make my characters do at least some roleplaying to come up with a good hook (so that they aren't trying to do the impossible) but as long as it has plausibility, I'll let a high Con or Persuasion pull it off.
Here's my question- if your characters are good enough at separating their 'player knowledge' from what the character knows or believes- do you believe that one player should be able to use their role to persuade/con another character into believing something that their player doesn't? If so, do you think they should be informed that a 'Con' attempt is being tried on them to oppose? Or just asked to roll their Perception/appropriate amount to resist it without being told why, so as not to taint their reaction with the knowledge that what they've just been told is false? Likewise, do you think that NPCs, in any circumstances, should have the chance to try and do this to a PC? _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com

I have seen many GMs who WON'T allow those social skills to be used from one PC against another... Its all done by their role playing.. the exception to that being command! _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
