Throughout their conversation, Cal makes sure to keep up the appearance that he's not actually part of this group. That way, if someone takes notice of him if things get hairy, hopefully the others won't be targeted as collaborators.

Scanning the crowd nearest them, Cal says, "Hey, would one of you smear some dirt or something on the back of my helmet and across the breastplate? I don't want to get gunned down accidentally by one of you if we get separated..."

Luey wipes some dirty grease off of the speeder and applies some "accidental" markings on Cal's stormtrooper armor.

"Thanks, Luey," Cal says. Turning his head to Toba, he replies, "I was not as distressed as you might think. His was a logical reaction to my not having been completely honest about myself. You, on the other hand, went from being homicidally bent on completely dismantling Max to being his best friend in the span of time we were on Tatooine. Now all of a sudden you wince at the mention of his name. What gives?"

Toba seems really uncomfortable as Cal describes his friendship with Max.

Cal's helmeted head looks directly at Toba. "I wouldn't call it a betrayal of trust. At least not from my point of view. From my perspective, it was giving you all a chance to earn my trust, so I would feel comfortable letting you know everything about me. It would appear that where some are concerned, at least, it was a wise decision on my part.

"But I've seen no reason for you to have suddenly stopped liking Max. What'd he do now?"

"And point of view is everything, my friend. Unfortunately, a being's perception is their reality, no matter what's actually going on around them. Palpatine made an announcement that the Jedi had tried to assassinate him and take over the Senate, and everyone just flocked to his banner. Never mind the fact that the Jedi have been the guardians of peace for over ten thousand generations! He slaughtered them all so they conveniently wouldn't be around to contradict his story with the truth.

"And, just to clarify, your behavior is what loudly proclaimed how much you liked Max. You were calling him 'buddy' and all sorts of endearing names. That's not the behavior one associates with dislike."

Lewshak sighs and begins walking towards the side of the building most likely to have access to the exhaust ports, making sure to avoid being spotted by any stormtroopers on the way.

... or maybe Luey is just walking away from Toba and Cal and their "discussion."

Luey moves toward the side street where the Imperial tank is positioned. The trooper in the turret swivels his cannons in the wookiee's direction.
