|
|
Has there been any attempt by the continuity guys at LFL to explain the appearance of many Dark Side characters in the RPG even thought the prequels implied that "only 2 there are..."
You would think that Palpatine as the Sith Lord wouldn't want any other dark siders floating around that could eventually attempt to dethrone him....
Has anything like this been addressed? in light of the prequels, I find it difficult to believe that Darth Vader would accept a guy like High Inquisitor Tremayne hanging around with his light saber.... What about all these Jedi's, that started training when they were obviously older, like the guy in GG9, Corwin Shelvay (spelling). The prequels cemented the fact that babies are taken from their parents to train since childhood.... Have these things been addressed in current continuity to make up for the prequels handling of the Jedi/Sith issues?
Thanks. |

Nowhere does it say there are only 2 dark siders. It is said that there are two Sith, a type of dark sider. All Sith follow the Dark Side, but the reverse does not apply. It's a specific school of the Force.
Even the 2 Sith limitation is specific to the movie era. The Tales of the Jedi comics take place in an era before the Sith adopted that restriction. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

Plus, there are many Prequel-era examples of the "two sith" taking up numerous darksiders as minions, such as Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos. And don't forget that even Grievous had his fair share of lightsabers, even though he wasn't force sensitive. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Grievous' lightsabers apparently came from Jedi he killed, IIRC, though... _________________ "Love like you will die tomorrow. Hate like you will live forever." - Unknown |

I know, my points was in reply to this statement by ebertran:
"I find it difficult to believe that Darth Vader would accept a guy like High Inquisitor Tremayne hanging around with his light saber"
It doesn't matter where Grievous' sabers came from, Darth Tyrannus surely had no problems with having him hanging around with his lightsabers. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

The concensus is that the Rule of Two meant there were two Dark Lord of the Siths at any one time. A master and an apprentice. The theory is the Rule of Two was to keep the Sith hidden (along with reducing all that backbiting stuff) from the rest of the Republic as long as they did.
But when Palpatine took control of the galaxy as Emperor, there was no need of hiding thus he created cadres of dark side minions to serve his needs, such as the Inquisitorious led by Tremayne to hunt down Order 66 survivors, the Emperor's Hands to act as sleeper agents in other entities like the Imperial court and the Hutt desilijics, the Royal Guards as Force sensitive Secret Service-like agents... and not to mention Vader training his own warrior apprentices like Flint and Shira Brie, the Emperor's Dark Side Adepts on Byss and others.
But seriously, how can a secret club of two survive just on their own for a thousand years since the Battle of Ruusan. There has got to be Sith accountants, Sith roofers, Sith plumbers, Sith speeder mechanics, Sith lawyers and other support personnel that kept the whole thing running as the Dark Lords planned and vied for power.
Sith network administrators. Heh. _________________ The Enteague Sector | Cracken's Collection of Crackpots

Well, first off, all system and network administrators are Sith Lords. See the b@st@rd* Operator From Hell:

As for how a group of two can survive, I'd say limiting it to two makes it a hell of a lot easier. All of the Dark Side Adepts and Emperor's Hands and whatnot are pawns. Only the two at the top know the Sith material. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

As far as Greivous's lightsaber collection, his first lightsaber didn't come from him killing a Jedi. Dooku gave it to him, along with blood from the original owner. It was Master Sifo-Dyas's lightsaber.
On so many Dark Jedi running around, as has been pointed out, the rule of two only pertained to Sith, not their Force-using underlings. Though after defeating the Jedi and Palpatine becoming emperor, the rule of two really wasn't all that important anymore. And Palpatine would pretty much find a way to keep any Sith from being able to rise up against him. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Most of the Witches of Dathomir are not dark siders, pretty much just the Nightsisters. And most of them typically don't serve Palpatine and the Empire. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

That is correct; however, it's a very good example of how Force users can exist during the Empire years without being slaughtered. Even if they wield lightsabers like Jedi do, if they aren't actual Jedi then the way they access and utilize the Force might be different enough from the "norm" that they'd either go undetected, or simply not seen as a threat since their methods are so different. |
