What are the chances of radiation causing gene damage Volar? |

I really like these. Playable and realistic.
Genetic damage is an interesting question. Off the cuff, I'd say if the player suffers a Mortal Wound due to radiation and lives to tell the tale, there's probably some genetic damage. Chronic low-level exposure could produce the same result, but that would be more of a story arc or sub plot in a given campaign.
Great opportunity for some roleplaying and character development, though. _________________ Aha! |

Volar, do you have any rules for healing radiation damage? If so, I would like to see them too. Great work by the way. |

To the individual exposed, all radiation damage is gene damage. The nausea, bleeding, etc is caused by large numbers of cells being destroyed. If enough cells die in one organ, that organ fails. This is the usual method of radiation death.
If you're asking about passing a genentic defect to offspring, this doesn't appear to happen. There are no reported genentic defects in the atomic bombing survivors which have been carefully tracked now out to the third generation. So, in the game, I'd ignore it.
Sorry, another great science fiction story line bites the dust in the light of actual science. But, since this is Star Wars; giant scorpians, radioactive beetles, 10m worms, evolution, and canabalistic mutant inhabited bombed out ruins is just fine. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

Volar, do you mean to say I can't actually develop super powers and pass them on to my children by
a. Massive radiation exposure which would kill scores of mere mortals.
b. A bite from a radioactive Kowakian Monkey Lizard, Nerf, etc.
c. Conducting radiation experiments of questionable scientific value to satiate my megalomania?
Are you saying there isn't a shred of actualy scientific proof that this could alter my genetic makeup and that of my offspring?!?
I'm crushed... _________________ Aha! |

Sorry, there's no chance of you mutating in such a way.
Now, as to your Star Wars characters...well...as you know, on the planet Balmorra there are waste zones containing a mixture of toxic and radioactive materials which are reputed to... _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.
