About damn time. Finally, a legal copy of the true Holy Trilogy. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

And of course, as the expected catch, you'll have to buy the 2004 edition once again.....
Still, it's cool to have the original movies available. That's something nobody believed would happen. When I read the news it took me a while to accept that it really couldn't be an April's Fools joke. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I am so pumped about this. I really didn't like the special edition, much less the current DVD release. Now, I know a lot of people do and that's cool. I just didn't think that it made the films any better. In fact, being able to see the computer animation hurt the films in my mind. I've been trying to find a way to convert my original trilogy VHS tapes into DVDs but now I'll just wait until this DVD set comes out. It's about time, too. I think my tapes are about to wear out. |

I'm definitely pleased the original trilogy we all grew up with is finally available on DVD. I too had a couple of problems with the SE versions:
Han shot first. Absolutely.
I read way back that Mr. Lucas changed this scene to keep Han from appearing as some sort of bloodthirsty murderer. Ok, I saw SW when I was 4, and there was no doubt in my mush-filled little brain that Greedo was going to cap Han (that whole "That's the idea" line really clinched it for me). Han was just good enough to get the drop on him, and he looked cool doing it. I decided right then I wanted to be Han Solo, and I still do.
Special Effects.
I really like the ones added. It seems, though, that if Mr. Lucas went to all the trouble of adding X-wings and cool exploding rings and such that he could take a few minutes and erase the pale green matte boxes around the TIE fighters when the Falcon escapes the Death Star. I was very disappointed to see those still around in the last release.
Oh well, that's my SE rant for the evening. 8) _________________ Aha! |
