Hey, everyone.

I've been coming to this site for about a year now, and I decided that it was about time I finally made a forum account.

I've been playing table-top games for nearly 18 years now, spending most of my time flipping back-and-forth between Dungeons and Dragons and Star Wars. I love the d6 version that West End Games developed, and even after the d20 version hit the stands, I kept playing the old fashion way.

After all, if it's not broke ...

Which would seem to fit in this case. When it first came out I saw a lot of folks saying how much better the D20 system was to the original SW RPG. Something I didn't share cause I really liked the idea of not having to grab a different die for different actions. Since joining here, I've seen a lot of folks come in and say they started with the D20 but found the D6 easier to play.

Plus WOTC isn't making any new RPG supplements, focusing more on other areas of their lisence. They've had the lisence less time that WEG did and already no new RPG supplements coming out of them.

I think my very favorite aspect of the d6 version of Star Wars is the fact that my character isn't limited by a "class" or "level." For instance, in the d20 version made by Wizards of the Coast, if I wanted to be sneaky or whatnot, I was forced to play a certain type of class that fit that particular niche. Whereas, with the West End Games method, all I have to do is toss a few Character Points around and suddenly I'm whatever I want to be.

I guess you could argue that, in the d20 version, I could still be whatever I wanted to be, so long as I paid double for the cross-class skills. That, to me, always seemed like I was being penalized for trying to think outside of the box. So to speak.

Hello there! I'm new to these forums and I sure love the atmosphere here. I've played SW RPG D6 back in highschool but I took a break for about 7 years.....unitl NOW!! Woo hoo!

RP'ing is such a great method of realease for pent-up creativity trying to break through the bombardment of mundane repetition.

Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to chatting with people here. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome, Exoviper!

You are correct; RPing is a wonderful creative outlet for those of us with creativity to spare! (Especially when we have few other outlets...)

Hello people, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm quite a fan of SWd6, in my case is particularly the game rules that fascinated me, altough I like of course the SW saga. Actually I'm working in an adaptation of the rules for other settings...
I've read some interesting stuff here for ideas to improve my gaming and I really appreciate you keep the quality of rpg up.

Tom

Hi Tom!

You might be interested in some of West End Games setting-specific books. Just check their homepage!

Just thought I'd drop in an say howdy. I just joined today. I'm getting back into SWd6 after some years away, and after (gasp) playing the D20 version. I like d6 because chargen is faster and smoother and less time-consuming--especially if you're putting together an online character sheet. I also have fond memories of playing d6 with friends when I was in my early twenties. Right now I'm trying to get into some play-by-post games, but currently I'm having a difficult time finding d6 Star Wars games that are accepting new players. Guess I'll just have to be patient.

And if you're curious, my favorite sourcebooks for d6 Star Wars are those detailing the Tapani sector (Lords of the Expanse boxed set, Player's Guide to Tapani, Tapani Instant Adventures).

You'll be seeing more of me around in the weeks ahead...
