Help me out here. I'm doing the Attack of the Clones Sourcebook, and I really want to make it look exactly like a WEG book. All I'm missing is the font WEG used for the text. I'm not talking about the title font, which is Eras, but the font actually used in the body of text.

Help me fellow Pitters, you're my only hope.

Here Gry. This site has thousands and thousands of fonts. Just look through the fonts in the drop-down menu in the corner.

That's a nice resource, thanks Skaff. But actually finding that font there will be very tricky......

I'll inquire at the WEG website. Perhaps someone there will know. Besides, I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one home made book that looks like the real deal. It'll turn up.

JACKPOT!

Quote:
Dear cheshire:

Most of the Star Wars 2nd Edition materials released in the 1990s used Eras Bold as the font for chapter headings and subheads (including sidebar, diagram, and map titles) and Cheltenham for paragraph text and diagram/map tags. From what I can tell this does not vary much with the SWRPG 2R&E. Fonts for covers varied depending on the graphic design, though overall the art department went for anything that looked like it would fit Star Wars.

Sorry, I don't recall the exact font sizes related to the varying subhead sizes (A-head, B-head, C-head), though I recall most of the text was in 10 point Cheltenham. If you really want to duplicate the look, you can print out sample headers at 14, 18, 24, and 36 point to compare with subheads in the old WEG Star Wars books.

I believe you can find several Star Wars fonts on the internet, including Aurabesh and an English character version of the Star Wars title font ("Star Jedi"). If you look hard enough you can even find "Shadow of Xizor," a font based on one developed to promote the products related to the novel Shadows of the Empire.

Back in my time at WEG I had some exposure to the layout end of product, particularly in reviewing layout for The Official Star Wars Adventure Journal and in creating convention support materials for the D6 Star Wars RPG.

Hope that answers your question. Good luck producing your home-brew D6 Star Wars materials.

Best regards,

I saw that on the WEG message Boards, Thanks for your help. That is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That's gold, Cheshire! GOLD!!

Now I just have to find the Cheltenham font for free. Shouldn't be too hard.

EDIT: Ha! Got it!

Good. I was scouring the internet trying to find the fonts for free. I don't think I'd found the exact ones, but I have close approximations. I'm glad to hear that you've got the real deal and got it for free. That's really awesome.

EDIT:
BTW, where did you find the Eras Bold? Again, I've found something close, though not the real deal.

Well, the font is not working very well. It's ok on Word, but on InDesign it's behaving erratically. I'll try to find a different one.

Where did I find Eras? Oh, I don't remember, but I certainly didn't pay for it. Tiy can PM me with a mail address if you'd like me to send it to you.

Darn it, I just can't seem to find the font for free download anywhere! The font used is Cheltenham Book....

If anybody manages to grab it, please pass it along.

Do you want the near approximation for now? I've got that.

I'm trying to remember. I think it was Cheltenham BT or something to that effect.

I can post it up when I get home this evening.

It would be nice if we could get the real thing though. Wait, I have an idea.

Hey, Commander Cody... can I have twenty-two bucks?
