The Black Sands of Socorro is a very cool book, rich with cultural background about Socorro, details about it's local crimelords and of coarse the cool Caelli-Merced merchandise...
Like the Caelli-Merced Sentinel IV Blaster
Quote: | The Caelli-Merced Sentinel IV Blaster
Type: Heavy Blaster Pistol

Game Notes: The Caelli-Merced is a preisely designed weapon, intentionally designed for the advanced user. This weapon adds +5 to the difficulty for any user with a blaster skill of less than 4D, but anyone with a blaster skill of 6D or higher gets a +1D to hit. |
or the Swoop Crell mentioned...
Quote: | Caelli-Merced CR-43 Swoopchase Racer

Crew: 1

Soccoro is cool, but if you want to make it big there you have to join the guild and stick around for a long while. |

Like I posted earlier, Black Sands of Socorro is a cool book.
Caelli-Merced makes lots of cool stuff. Blaster pistols, vehicles and they do incredible ship upgrades and repairs. The average Caelli-Merced mechanic has a spacetransports repair of 10D! _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

It might seem basic, but I like tatooine the best. It has such a strong location in the movies of course. But I like the cities of Mos Espa, and Mos Eisley for it's criminal back ground. Quite the place to get into trouble. And there's the sand people. They are very cool. Makes you want to know what they are like without the wrappings. Are they even human? Are they even near human? _________________ Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Psalm 145:3 |

In one game of mine, I created the planet Calisto which was under Imperial control during the trilogy and then fell under the Pentastar Alignment. Calisto spaceport and the surrounding city was a fun place to have adventures. It is the home of Crell Damar.
One of the sites of natural beauty was the crystaline reefs that lined the coast. It was a good spot for dates. The city was unique in it use of crystaline architecture which dated as far back as the Old Republic. Calisto is the homeworld of a homemade near-human race called Trill, based only in appearance to the Star Trek species. Their society valued knowledge, which was a useful trait in Crell's case.
Did you guys want me to post more about Socorro? _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

Merely a superficial crossover. Although I am a Trek fan, but that's another story.
Recently I created the planet Dangomir, which is the water world Ragnar visited in his last game. The inhabitants are called, Quelnesh and live in cities under the sea. Their leader is the Regent Qusar (recently posted as Supreme Qusar which was an error)Questal. I only created the ereas Ragnar visited and didn't have details of the city at the time, but you could compare it to a Mon Cal city or the Gunguns city. Obviously the technology is very undersea oriented, but they do have defenses against enemies from space.
Yet another world created from the Rancor Pit random generator... _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

AH but how did you create the inhabitants?
I'm very interested in that seeing as how the Esoomians (with their great big lack o' data from WEG) seem to be a make it up as you go along species. |

That was the easy part. Bam! Snap!... an aquadic race is born. Since they were just story elements for that game, I didn't bother writing stats for them. I may later if it becomes an issue, but for now they're just story. _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

Well, anyway. Back to Socorro.
I kinda cringed when I first read the sourcebook. I know it's good and all, but it doesn't sorta give you any chances to create you own larger-than-life-story.
Everything seems to be perfectly done, but it's TOO perfectly done. PC's won't have a chance to do anything, since everything seems to be forbidden. The power structure of the world seems to rigid for smugglers.
I thought smugglers were supposed to be the ultimate scoundrels, lawbreakers of the upteenth degree.
On Socorro, smugglers are reduced by rules that basically go like this:
"Do (insert something here), and you'll be killed/barred from future deals."
And Drake Paulsen is a han solo/luke skywalker-munchkin-hybrid.
I hated him the instant I saw him. _________________ There is no emotion; there is peace.
