Check your PM folder, Jamfke, it should be full of sectors. 8)
Two hundred planets? Pfsssh.... I've got well over 700 planets listed on my project (though I must admit, I'm not typing up all of their data, so in that regards, your project is certainly more bulky than mine) and I'm still adding to it.
Keep on plugging along, man, keep on plugging... |

For every sentient race, there is a good bulk of systems for them to have their own mini-empire in the galaxy... and there are a LOT of sentient races.
And even they cannot all be catalogged easily. But it can be done. _________________ My backpack has jets!

How goes the battle on this endeavor. I would love to see a product on this as I am working on databasing all of the planets, sectors, etc. for use in a Win32 NavComputer. |

Still chugging along, I think I'll post a copy of what I've got so far to get some critiques. I'm still a long way from completion, but it is still going. Been busy with Christmas and such. _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

I was considering doing the same thing, especially since you guys have been so helpful in supplying me with more data than is probably necessary.
My thought was to make a very basic book of the planets, using the general format that I've been using at my own site for my game, pulling from The Planets Collection book. A 'brief' summary seems almost impossible, which is why I was going to skip it Perhaps a quick guide to what books the planet is mentioned in? Come up with some complicated key system and give the book name and a page number or two? _________________ --------------------------------

My site sucks; check it out! I hope to improve it. |

I admire your courage Jamfke, for even attempting such a project.
And here I am - modestly map-gridding the galaxy map I found on the web (which I believe is from a 1st ed book) and alphabetically referencing the 300-odd star systems, nebulae and sectors that are on it.
I undertook my little project as an addition to my GM resources for ease of finding the systems on the map. I plan to use it as a basis for calculating length of hyperspace jumps, then adjusting the time required as dictated by the astrogation roll.
My group is in a game during the "A New Hope" era, loosely based on the X-wing series of novels. So astro-travel is playing a fair part in the game. |

Well, I hope I can get this one back on track. Since my laptop crashed over the holidays, I've had to go back and redo some of my projects from scratch. I managed to save some of the files to disk before the inevitable, but not everything was saved. I will keep everyone posted though! _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

My buddy here is working on a program for palm pilots and computers that will allow you to zoom in on a galactic sector and eventually get down to planets/systems and give you information and travel times based on hyperdrive and start point. It seems like a pretty bold undertaking but he seems confident that it can be done. All these files being created are sure to be a help.

Hi. Are you only wanting planets and systems from WEG products? Or do you want stuff from the comics and novels too ? Have about 30 novels and a reasonable pile of comics if you want summaries from them. _________________ oops - i didnt mean to make it go off |

Hello,
That would be great. I don't know how standard everything is between the RPG and any of the books/comics, but I'm sure he'd like all he could get.

So what sort of progress has been made on this? Anything?
My list is growing, I'm over 1600 planets now.
By the way...if you wouldn't mind, darius, I'd like to see what info you can come up with for planets, systems, sectors and regions in the assorted material you have (books and comics). |

Hi there! I've had to put this one on the back burner. My old laptop crashed and I lost a lot of info. I have got a PDF of what I did get accomplished, but it's nowhere near complete. _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

Sorry to hear about your laptop Jamfke, I have had a number of computer problems of late too, which has kept me offline for the last several months. Even though the PDF you have is less than complete, would I be able to talk you into sharing it? I would still very much like to see it. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |
