Okay... this is really bad.... and has officially convinced me that my GM is a little more than slightly insane. In a game we had a few days ago, we finished a campaign where we had to diffuse a giant bomb disguised as a Death Star (long story) But anyway... we got all the way to the core and had about 5 people working on it... when we all got critical failures. So... what does the GM do... he forgets the "fates worse than death" rule and blows us all up... including half of a solar system and god knows how many civilians...

Yeah... I really need a new GM....

As soon as you said "giant bomb disguised as a Death Star", I knew your GM was insane.

That is not a rule, but a suggestion, nothing more...

And what would you think should have been a 'fate worse than death' for you all, anyway?

Perhaps not so much insane, as lacking creativity... I mean, a giant bomb disguised as an asteroid, or a derelict ship perhaps... but a Death Star?!?!

He's passed ludicrous and gone right on to PLAID!!!

Come on Jedi Skyler, we donīt know anything about why he chose a deathstar as camouflage. What about telling us, darthomer09?

Well, from what I gather, the intent of the Death Star disguise was there so that they would purposefully try and destroy it as a Death Star which would detonate it (which we nearly did at first). Our group was sent in to take it out when one of us (force user) felt that it was different. We went in to investigate and in the end we tried diffusing it. That didn't work out very well. That's kind of when we ended the campaign since we didn't have any characters left so I'll have to ask him what was really going on.

We had a squib thief in our party, who once tried to pick-pocket an old lady. He botched his roll and she noticed, walloping him with her purse. She then proceeded to pull a blaster out of her purse, and shot him twice in the chest. It turned out she was an the interplanetary assasin we were looking for.

See, I've been telling people. You have to watch out for little old ladies. I mean they are dangerous....

I was GM'ing an all-nighter and the PC's were hiding out in a space port on Nar Shadda, getting their bearings after escaping (actually let go) from an imperial prison. Unbeknownst to them, there was a tracking device "planted" on each of them after interrogations.

A Star Destroyer zeros in on their position, believing the port to house rebels, opening fire with their Turbolasers. The PC's are struggling to get to the hangar as the station breaks up around them. A blast opens up a massive breach in the bulkhead, forcing the heros to crawl along the ground towards an open elevator shaft. One wookie hero rolls poorly and begins to slide along the ground towards the vaccume of space.

"I'm going to try to cave in the ceiling and plug the hole," he shouts.

Bracing himself, the wookie grips his rocket launcher, spends a force point, takes aim at the ceiling near the hole, ..........and realizes that he's holding the weapon with both hands.

Opps!

Soon he's swimming in space......

I was GMing a game (early Rebellion Era). The characters had just gotten the assignment to transport the Death Star plans from the Bothans to Princess Leia on the Tantive IV. After this, they decided to take a vacation to Alderaan. I was like, "Are you serious?" and they really wanted to go "see the sights". While they were relaxing on a beach, their Ewok tech specialist (who stayed on the ship working on a new hyperdrive) noticed a massive "something" appear on their sensors. The characters then realized what gets blown up soon after the Tantive IV gets the Death Star plans...

They ended up getting back to their ship, but once they escaped the massive explosion, they decided that they wanted to rescue Princess Leia. They acted out a sequence similar to those in "A New Hope". However, they thought that Darth Vader couldn't possibly block all of the shots they could shoot at him...they were wrong.

I consider myself a fair GM (I let them escape from Alderaan). But challenging Darth Vader...if I'd have let them win, I couldn't have lived with myself (not to mention their woefully inadequate skills - these were nobles and pilots with mediocre blaster skills...)

I still think the worst *death* we've ever had involved a guest player, a guest NON-player, and a twist of fate.

The guest player had been a bounty hunter opposed to our party; we ended up killing him. Fine and dandy. However, the hunter's Imperial employers weren't so thrilled... so start up the space chase scene...

And the GM has to go sit on the Imperial Throne. So he has the Guest Non-Player roll the combat. He needed only three rolls for a single TIE fighter: Initiative 47, Attack 33 (vs. our ship's final dodge roll of 32...) and 38 damage to match our final soak of 20.

Total party kill. o.o (Except for the captain, who SOMEHOW survived, a long story used as a backstory for her reappearance as a Jedi in a later game involving a self-styled Sith Lord named Darth Nabal.)

The only other major *kill* we suffered was previously in this very game, in which that captain spaced my bounty hunter's newly acquired "partner," an Ewok stowaway.

I had a alien student of the Force pull a "Luke Hoth" maneuver on an AT-AT...

Except, they were on a forest world...

He threw in the thermal detonator, was blown from the hatch, fell the entire length of the AT-ATs legs to hard-packed earth, and was subsequently crushed by the smoldering AT-AT wreckage...

The GM didn't want a Force-sensitive character (even though my stat [singular] was pathetic) and that was the perfect way to nail me. 8D (partial cover from AT-AT hatch), then 8D (falling damage), then 10D Speeder-scale damage from the debris.

So much for the lanky, periwinkle-colored alien dude...

This isn't a death, but rather should have been.

I was GMing a one-character campaign, and the dude had a suit of miscellaneous armor. Amongst the armor's accessories was a wrist-mounted grappeling hook.

He has to infiltrate a bacta storage house...rather than using disguises (which I had hoped and planned for, go figure...), he decides he's going to climb the side of a nearby building and go across the rooftops.

Well.

The grappeling hook lands on the roof of the 9-floor building, and doesn't catch. He reels it in.

Not realizing that as soon as it the metal hook leaves the roof and enters the air, it is going to start *falling*.

It nails him on the head.

He blacks out.

He wakes up, still in this back alley, and decides he's gonna try again.

I'm slightly annoyed at this point that my entire disguise plan is falling apart, so naturally, his grappling hook once again doesn't catch.

He REELS IT IN AGAIN.

Wakes up ten minutes later, decides third time's the charm...the moron was finally "rescued" by a passing policeman who arrested him for trespassing.
