Related to the "several questions" thread..

If a pc has Danger sense, but does NOT have it active, would you give him a reaction roll to kick it in? Or would you alert him something is not right anyway?

That would almost defeat the purpose of Danger Sense. The power's job is to tell the Jedi that something isn't right, and to add to his initiative so he has time to decide how he's going to respond to the threat(s). If he doesn't have it "up," but senses the attack anyway, there's no need for him to ever bring it up. IMO, anyway.

If a tree on endor falls over and a Jedi is a hundered miles away without magnify senses up does he hear it? The answer is up to the gm. If it's pivotial to the adventure I would say in both cases he might get a chance to roll. But if not then nope.

My point exactly, but it does seem that a lot of places that i have asked about things related to death, hints etc, a lot of people have been responding that they would give out hints and warnings before having something "nasty" happen. Whether that person has danger sense, or not, and whether he has it up or not... Which to me, makes it pointless to get, if they are going to give out those warnings...

Doesn't Danger Sense give the PC an extra turn before Initiative is rolled? I thought it did. I would make it a free check that if you succeed, good for you, if not, then you get to react just like everyone else.

Agree?

Perhaps a happy medium would be if a Jedi were being aimed at by a sniper, the GM should roll Danger Sense for the Jedi. If the roll succeeds, then the GM could tell the Jedi that "something isn't right, but you can't tell what." That little bit of warning, even in its vague nature, could be the opportunity for the Jedi to take some kind of action- be it activating Danger Sense on his own (in which case he'd then know for sure that he was about to be attacked), or bringing up another power, or even taking cover for a moment while he goes into the Force to try to determine what's happening. If the roll fails, however, the Jedi would then be attacked without knowing it.

This way, you're giving the Jedi the chance to receive a warning through the Force, but not just giving it to them. They have to make the first roll to know that anything at all is amiss to begin with, then they still have to act on their own afterwards. So, their knowing comes with acting properly. There's no guarantee that the Jedi character would even do more than alert his fellows to the fact that he feels something is not quite right. If they continue on their present course of action, without doing anything immediately to either try and determine the source of the danger or get to a (supposedly) safer place, then there's gonna be blood, if the shot's good.

Honestly, If I had a player who had danger sense and they weren't using it during a situation where they should; I'd teach them they need to use their powers. Either let them learn because nothing happens (not give them free use of a power they didn't have up) and let them sort out the rest; or if the game was appropriate I would let them have a "farseeing flash" where they saw what was about to happen in descriptive terms that give no indication to time. When the PC's "vision" ends, the attack begins.....he'd be caught off guard from just exiting a vision as it begins.

I like that one, Endwyn... actually, I think that's more akin to what I was thinking than the way I worded it.

It's something that WEG had for their masterbook game and torg ad shatterzone. Each had a different series of cards although they were all very similar. The rules for useing them are a little complex, but all our group ever used was the top box of the cards. Each player randomly drew out a number of cards (it was set before the game started, but we never had a set number for every game) and then could use the cards at anytime during the adventure. Not all cards are benificial, but most are. There are two kinds of special cards - subplot cards and special cards. Subplot cards are all red, special cards are the one's with pics. Here are some of the cards.....there are more than 100 total cards, but several are repeated.

So, if the above cards were mine during a game, I might play the supporter card during an investigation or when I'm trying to buy something rare, or perhaps even when I need a small favor to push the game along. Latter, I might need the action card during a dodge or soak. There may even be a point where one of the other PC's needs help, and I might have a few words of encouragement for another character (supporter card). They promote the player putting input into the game, creating a contact, helping out a PC, ect.

I hope I didn't hook anyone on this - the decks can be very difficult to find now adays.....the best chance is buying a old boxed set masterbook game - just make sure it has a masterdeck first if that's all you want.

Oh, believe me, I don't have the time for that kinda stuff. It's hard enough getting done all the things I ALREADY want to do, and I'm still not succeeding there!
