|
|
Hey there, I was checking some ships stats when I noticed a disparity concerning the YT-2400. Both the Pirates & Privateers and the Stock Ships books have stats for it, however they are signifficantly different. The Pirates & Privateers version is all around more powerful. Both books were published in the same year, and yet the stats differ in many aspects.
So which of these would you consider the "official" stats for the stock YT-2400?:

Fire Control: 1D+2
Space Range: 1-3/12/25
Atmosphere Range: 100-300/1.2/2.5 km

PS: I'm noticing there are disparities between these two books in other ships as well, though none seems to be as blatant. So, which book do you think should be taken more "seriously"? I'm thinking it should be the Stock Ships, since it's a book dedicated to those ships, while Privates & Privateers is more a collection of ships to round out a bigger book that's talking about other things. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Actually, both.
We got "New Model" and "Old Model" thing going.
The Old Model (P&P) was when they did the "Wink and a Nod" to Smugglers. Then the Empire went "WTF???" and they put out the "New Model", which is more in line with what the Empire wants in a Freighter, even if it is pushing it a bit.
Probably sold the Empire a bunch of Old Models at a discount to get 'em to allow it anyhow. |

Stock ships was made later, so maybe the first version was a recall? Problems with backing up in the WC? |

You also have to take into account, the ships listed in P&P are pirate's swag, so most likely have been upgraded a time or two (or twelve!!!) _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

By the way... does anyone have any pics of the YT-2400? I might be using one in a game I'm playing in, and I'd like to be able to get a visual on it. |

Thanks, Ray! I've never played the game, and I don't remember if it's in the book or not. |

It is. It's Dash's ship, the "Outrider". |

Yeah, as soon as I actually SAW it, I recognized it. (I looked at them after I posted...)
Now, does memory serve me correctly that the B-wing style cockpit (read: gyroscopic, staying "upright" feature) was an addition that Dash did? As I recall, the stock YT-2400 doesn't have that capability... |

I'm pretty sure he added it, ya.
It's a *VERY* complex system, and not likely to be added to something that needs to be as reliable as a Freighter.
At least, unless you're a bunch of Verpines who need to fly around an asteroid field all the time. |

Ya got THAT right! Set a crew of Verpine Techs loose on a ship for awhile and you'll come out with a completely overhauled ship that you just might have to relearn the controls for!
But it'll work a WHOLE lot better, too! |

"Why is the writing on the controls so small?" "They're not small, they're standard size." "FOR VERPINES! Not all of us have Microscopic vision!!!" |

I would say both sets of stats are official, and that the stats in Pirates and Privateers is either a modified, or upgunned version for use in more dangerous teritories. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |
