|
|
Does anyone know the name or have ANY info on the "other" Jedi Starfighter from Episode 3? I'm talking about the one shaped like a half-disc that Anakin uses to go from the temple to Palpatine's office to save him from Mace. OB1 uses it as well on his visit to Padmé.
Incidentally, here's my conversion for the Jedi Interceptor (the one Annie and Obi use in the opening battle):
Jedi Interceptor
Craft: Kuat Systems Engineering Eta-7 Actis-class Interceptor
Type: Interceptor
Scale: Starfighter
Length: 5.47 meters
Skill: Starfighter piloting: Eta-7
Crew: 1 and astromech droid (can coordinate)
Passengers: None
Cargo Capacity: 20 kilograms
Consumables: 2 days
Cost: Not available for sale (valued at 140,000)
Hyperdrive Multiplier: x1 (with booster ring, see below)
Nav Computer: Uses a modified astromech droid programmed with 10 jumps
Maneuverability: 4D+2
Space: 16
Atmosphere: 515; 1,500 km/h
Hull: 2D+1
Shields: 0D
Sensors:
Passive: 10/0D
Scan: 15/1D
Search: 20/2D
Focus: 2/2D+1
Weapons:
2 Laser Cannons (fire-linked)
Fire Arc: Front
Skill: Starship gunnery
Fire Control: 2D
Space Range: 1-3/12/25
Atmosphere Range: 100-300/1.2/2.5 km
Damage: 5D
2 Light Ion Cannons (fire-linked)
Fire Arc: Front
Skill: Starship gunnery
Fire Control: 2D
Space Range: 1-3/10/20
Atmosphere Range: 100-300/1/2 km
Damage: 4D
Notes: The Eta-7 requires a separate hyperdrive module in the form of a booster ring (the TransGalMeg Industries hyperdrive booster ring). Docking with the ring takes 3 rounds to accomplish, and requires a Difficult starfighter piloting skill check (the fighter's maneuverability counts for this roll).
PS. And before you start freaking out, I know this is frigging uber fast and maneuverable. But this is how Wizards put it. I actually toned the Maneuverability down a notch.... And hey, it's still no TIE Defender... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them."

Remember, WotC has a habit of assigning quite large numbers to everything.
They also have a playtesting period of 0 months. They playtest nothing, they write it, edit, print, ship, and that's it, and they have no idea if it works or fits with other products in the line.
Now I can accept that a specialized, limited quantity fighter will have uber stats. The diffrence between a custom hot rod and the standard squad car, of course.
But that doesn't excuse WotC. Second guess and look over eveything they do. Question all practices. They really have no idea what they are doing. _________________ My backpack has jets!

Fully agree with you. But as you say, as uber as these stats are, I think they might still be correct. This is the height of Jedi starfighters, produced in limited quantities and with no shields. They are hot-rods, indeed, meant to be used by some pretty special people. I'm fine with these stats...
Also, to justify this ships "uber-ness", here's a quote from the Official Site: "Skywalker constantly tinkered with his starfighter, modifying its systems to optimize performance. Based on his innovations, Kuat Systems Engineering revisited the starfighter design and developed a bold and radical follow-up to the Delta-7 with its Eta-2 Actis interceptor."
So, it can be said that the Eta-2 was designed by the Chosen One himself. It has the right to be uber.....
...no news yet on the other fighter? _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

No news yet on the other fighter. But your right, if the Eta-2 was a hot-rod among the squad cars, than hot rod stats it deserves.
And no news on the other mystery fighter. _________________ My backpack has jets!

This other quote from the official site further reinforces this:
"...it is a very advanced high-performance craft that devotes most of its system resources to pure speed and power. It does so at the expense of heavy flight instruments, sensors and shields."
Uh, do you think this actually means that it has no sensors whatsoever, or that I should downgrade them even further? _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

It's focus is a little high, there are capital ships that don't have it at 3/3D.
The rest could probably be toned down a bit too.
Considering a lot of the changes Anakin made sacrificed systems that his Force Powers were making up for anyway, when Kuat began making this fighter specifically for Jedi and saw that a lot of sensor systems were removed, they probably understood and did the exact same thing. Sacrifice the sensors, Jedi don't use them that much.
Also, the cargo capacity, most standard euipment on circa AD 900 Knights all the way up to modern soldiers never went beyond 30 Kilos. Jedi hardly ever carry that much on them. So you could drop that down a bit too.
Just some suggestions. _________________ My backpack has jets!

Suggestions applied, thanks. I guess now those look like some pretty poor sensors, as they should be... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Well, than I have nothing to suggest now. Seems like a great ship.
About how many of these were made? _________________ My backpack has jets!

Humm... hard to tell... the Official Site says only this:
"Anakin Skywalker was the first to pilot this new model, though other Jedi soon followed in his path, including Tiin, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu."
So we can see that the Jedi Interceptor's use quickly grew in popularity. However this might also mean that the craft saw more use among the jedi "elite", while all the thousands of jedi spread across the galaxy probably still relied much more on the Actis-7. I'd say use of the Eta-7 never did spread like the Actis-7, since the Jedi's very existance was cut short by Order 66.
How many were made, I'd wild-guess it at about 300. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

It's astounding, but they make and use so many ships for the movies, they are not all detailed yet. Episode 3 was fairly recent and it makes sense that they havn't got around to detailing an episode 3 craft that even the main characters use. _________________ My backpack has jets!

I don't think it's a Starfighter. I think maybe it's an airspeeder, along the lines of the Cloud City Cloud Cars.
That's just my opinion. ymmv.

Or a standard speeder that it just so happens we only see two Jedi use. _________________ My backpack has jets!

I personally subscribe to the idea that it's just a run of the mill, everyday ordinary airspeeder. It only has noteriety because it was flown by <gasp!> the Chosen One... |
