Weapons Stats update:
Grimace has come through with the last batch of weapons from the Adventure Journals and so I'v started the final editing of the book. I'm feeling that the actual book will turn out smaller than anticipated, probably under 100 pages, because weapon images don't take up that much space, there are many items without pictures and the stats themselves are fairly short. Nevertheless, I think it's turning out quite pretty. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Well, Weapons Stats is ready... BUT I'm still waiting on a single last item from Grimace before "shipping" the book. So have patience...
And as that book comes to a close, it's time to focus on Equipemt Stats. I've done a first pass in categorizing the book, and this one's really tricky, so I'd really appreciate your input.
Here's what I have so far, I have not yet given any thought as to the order of appearance of each chapter and subgroup:
Communications
---Beacons (emergency distress beacons)
---Communication Aids (vocalizer masks, translators)
---Communicators (comlinks, comsets, holocomms)
---Disruptors (Communication jammers and encoders)
Conveyances
---Climbing Gear (climbing aids, ropes, grappling guns)
---Jet Packs
---Rocket Packs
---Repulsors (repulsor carts, boots, belts)
Droid Gear (all the gizmos)
---Owner Gear (restraining bolts, links, repair)
Information
---Computers (datapads and all sorts of computers)
---Accessories (data links, interfaces...)
---Data Carriers (code cylinders, memory sticks, holocrons...)
---Information Security (Encryption packages, encoders)
---Recorders & Projectors (holoprojectors, recording systems..)
---Slicing (computer spikes and patches)
Medical
---Boosters (performance-enhancing drugs and gear)
---Cybernetics
---Healing (medpacs and all sorts of healing aids)
---Medical Scanners (diagnostic scanners)
---Stabilizing (devices meant to stabilize a patient, not heal.)
Protective Gear
---Camouflage Armor
---Combat Armor
---Environmental Suits (some may be combat-ready, but are also life-support gear)
---Individual Armor (Boba Fett's armor, Vader's, etc)
---Military Unit Armor (stormie's armor, royal guard's, etc)
---Powersuits (performance-enhancing power armor)
---Protective Vests (torso-only protection)
---Shields (ranging from personal shields, energy shields to planetary shields)
---Spacesuits (Vacuum resistant suits or armor)
---Armor Accessories (A bit of a mess: got helmets, a boot and coveralls)
Security
---Anti-Security (devices to bypass locking systems)
---Locking Systems
---Defense (traps: monofilament screen guard and stun steps)
---Restraining Devices (cuffs, cages, collars)
---Sensor Trips
---Storage Devices (safes, boxes and secret compartments)
Ship & Vehicle Equipment
---Boarding Devices (airlocks...)
---Computers (Nav computers, pilots, diagnostic)
---Drives (realspace and hyperdrives)
---Protection (Shields and hull breach protection)
---Sensor Disruptors (sensor and comm jammers, decoys)
---Tractor Beams
Surveillance
---Anti-Surveillance (sensor detectors, smoke generators, sensor jammers, silence bubbles, camo-netting...)
---Goggles (macrobinoculars, nightvision goggles)
---Sensors (cameras, weapon detectors, sensors for motion, heat, energy, chemicals...)
---Tracking Devices
Survival (heat generators, glow rods, survival packs, water filters, energy generators, etc)
---Breathing Gear (breath masks, oxygen tubes...)
---Shelters (Tents, pressure bubbles...)
Tools (Mechanical tools such as hydrospanner, fusion cutters, all sorts of repair aids and technical kits)
Miscellaneous (here are the groups I didn't know where else to fit:
---Animal Gear (riding gear, transport)
---Disguises (real and holographic disguises and concealers)
---Entertainments (games, musical instruments, shiny pretty stuff...)
---Household (hot and cold boxes, trash bins, refreshers, food managers, couches...)
---Mystical Items (Sith amulets, power crystals...)
I'd appreciate any suggestions regarding where each thing should go, better category names, order of appearance in the book, etc. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them."

I'm glad to help !
About order of appearance, here is my suggestion :
- I agree that Ship Equipment should be at the end of the book (probably with Droïd equipment, Tools and Misc)
- Communications and Information (and Surveillance ?) should be close together (all of them are about acquiring/transmitting information)
- Medical, Survival and Protective Gear are all about taking care of living beeings
- Conveyances often comes with Protective gear
- Security should go either with Surveillance or with Ships
So, here is what order you could use for the book, from basic equipment (Survival) to computers (Information) and then Tools, Ships...
Quote: |
Survival
Medical
Protective Gear
Conveyances
Surveillance
Communications
Information
Security
Tools
Droid Gear
Ship & Vehicle Equipment
Miscellaneous |
What do you think about it ? |

First off. Let it be known here that Weapons Stats is finished and available for download at the PDF-Sharing Thread.
I like your way of organizing things Krapou. I'll surely to something similar to what you suggested. I might just shift some of those around. Maybe start off with Protective Gear, as it's a category that directly ties to the Weapons Stats book (some of those armors are well armed)
I'm thinking probably go like:
Protective Gear
Conveyances
Medical
Survival
Communications
Information
Surveillance
Security
Tools
Droid Gear
Ship & Vehicle Equipment
Miscellaneous _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Ok, I sat down today and did some work on The Mandalorian Sourcebook. I am basing what I can off of various available sources that are cannon, as well as pre-prequel era. I do not intend to use much from KOTOR or other EU sources. I am filling in some of the fluff with speculation derived from known or printed facts about the Mandalorians. This book will hardly be "official" by most standards. The timetable of the book could best be described as Pre-SW4 Infinity. It will lay out the Mandalorians as described by George Lucas in various interviews and articles in the early to mid 80's, and follow their exploits into the clone wars, the Jedi Hunts, and the beginings of the empire, and their fall during the end of the clone wars at the hands of the Jedi.
I am using some online references for arms and equipment. I intend this book as an alternative information supplement. I will include a few captions and footnotes to include compatibility with the Pre-Quels and KOTOR for those who must have it... I might even finish in my lifetime.
What I have thus far:
I began outlining the overall structure and background of the Mandalorian military regime. I briefly note their militaristic culture and idealogy, with the ruling baronies, dukedoms, and archdukes. I briefly note the industrial nature of their culture. I loosely touch on the life of discipline, duty, and honor orriginally atributed to the Mandalorians by George Lucas. I will detail all of these further at a later time. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |

I would like to see it too Kage, even without the Kotor footnotes _________________ There's no such a thing as the Force's own will. You are it's will. Use it, to impose your will upon reality. Master it, and you shall master the universe. May the Force serve you well. |

That's the KOTOR & similar history I am trying to avoid. It directly contradicts events and timetables established by Lucas himself in various interviews in the 80's. Thank you anyway though. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |

How much Kotor information are you going to include? _________________ There's no such a thing as the Force's own will. You are it's will. Use it, to impose your will upon reality. Master it, and you shall master the universe. May the Force serve you well. |

He already said, NONE. He's basing it off what Lucas wrote in the 80's (that he now says he didn't write... all of which is out of print, so save for the 'hardcore' fans like us that have read it, he can say that, and most people will believe it).
Kage, would it be possible for you (or anyone else) to scan the "prequel" era notes before they got changed? That which Lucas claims was "never written down"? _________________ Jen'tara Rhee, Twi'lek Dark Jedi/Ace Pilot

Are you just going to use the interviews or are you going to include the Tales of the Jedi material as well? Any of the Jango Fett backstory? |
