THE BLAZING CHAIN
Type: Nomadic Force-using pirate fleets
Era(s): Old Republic – Rise of the Empire – Galactic Civil War – Legacy Era
Allies: None
Enemies: Sith, Imperial Remnant, Hapes Consortium, First Order
Notable Splinters: Blackshackle Fleet (Dark Side fallen)

Background
The Blazing Chain are nomadic Force-using raiders native to the Unknown Regions. Originating as opportunistic pirate fleets during the tail end of the Great Sith War, they evolved into a loose network of fleets dominated by Force-sensitive outlaws, mystics, and assassins. They shun doctrine, hierarchy, and traditional lightsaber training. To them, the Force is a weapon, not a religion.

Each fleet operates independently under the command of an Adacap (fleet captain), and unity is rare. They raid poorly defended targets, dismantle weak governments, and disappear into the dark.

Philosophy
Pragmatic Force Use. They borrow powers from Jedi, Sith, and other traditions but are loyal to none.
No Lightsabers. Most reject or lack training in lightsabers.
Dark Side Awareness. They neither fear nor embrace the dark side; it is simply another tool—but they monitor those who fall to it.

Blazing Chain Culture
Membership: 80% are born into the fleets; others are recruited.
Fleet Life: Most members live on starships. Largest vessels serve as mobile city-havens.
Recruitment: Open to Force-users, smugglers, spies, and exiles—dark-siders are watched closely.
Strongholds: Hidden bases on desolate worlds serve as refueling points and rally hubs.

Force Training
In Blazing Chain tradition, Control, Sense, and Alter are taught like any other mechanical or martial skill. Training is practical and conducted in groups, with ranks determined by usefulness—not piety.

Blazing Chain fleets include:
Humans, Umbarans, Zabrak, Nagai, Miraluka, Twi'leks
Cloned Force-experiment survivors
Exiled Jedi, Sith deserters, and non-traditional mystics

Ranks
Flamewhisper: Assassin/Scout
Emberblood: Raider/Boarding Leader
Starbraid: Fleet Seer/Guideprecognition
Adacap: Fleet Captain (Officer)

Force Directed Shot (Blazing Chain only)
Control Difficulty: Moderate (15)
Alter Difficulty: Difficult (20)
Required Powers: Combat sense, telekinesis
Time to Use: 1 action
Effect: This power allows a Force user to subtly alter the trajectory of a single ranged attack—such as a blaster bolt, thrown knife, or grenade—so that it appears to strike from an unexpected angle. Must have line-of-sight or know where the target is (GM's discretion). The target must be within weapon range from the user’s actual position.

Absorb/Dissipate Energy (Expanded Use: Redirect)
Effect: If the Force user successfully uses this power to absorb a blaster bolt or energy-based attack, they may attempt to redirect part of the absorbed energy at a new target.
Game Notes: Successful use of Absorb/Dissipate Energy against a ranged energy attack. Must be done immediately after absorbing the energy (counts as second action; apply MAPs). One target within 10 meters and line of sight. Alter opposed by target’s dodge or Strength (whichever is higher). On success, the target suffers half the base damage of the original energy attack.

Rising Anger (Dark Side)
Control Difficulty: Moderate (15)
Required Powers: Concentration, enhance attribute
This power may not be kept "up."
Effect: This dark side technique allows the Force user to draw upon their anger at seeing an ally wounded or diminished in battle, turning it into deadly aggression. Once per round the user gains a +1 bonus to their next attack roll. The Force user can hold their action allowing their anger to grow, increasing the bonus by +1 per round up to a maximum of +5.

Rising Panic (Dark Side)
Control Difficulty: Moderate (15)
Sense Difficulty: Opposed by target’s Willpower or Perception (whichever is higher)
Required Powers: Life sense, receptive telepathy, projective telepathy, control another’s pain
This power may not be kept "up."
Effect: This dark side technique allows a Force user to incite a rising panic in an enemies in line of sight to them. A failed opposed roll gives a -1D modifier to all skill checks, if the roll fails by 10+ the affected character will attempt to break off combat and flee.

Personal Stealth Field
This compact belt or harness-mounted device projects a distortion field around the wearer, rendering them semi-invisible to unaided visual detection and partially masking their thermal and sonic signatures. Though not perfect, it is highly effective for infiltration, assassination, or escape missions where remaining unseen is essential.

Personal Stealth Field
Model: SoroSuub WhisperSkin Mk IV
Type: Personal concealment device
Cost: 8,500 credits
Availability: 3, R
Game Notes: Adds +2D to sneak rolls while active. At close range, observers may detect the user with a Moderate search or sensors roll.
At medium range or farther, the difficulty increases by one level. Field shimmers noticeably when user moves quickly; adds +1 difficulty level to spot if running. Does not conceal noise or smell; bonuses only apply to visual/sensor detection. Duration: 10 minutes continuous use before power cell depletion. Cannot be used while wearing medium or heavy armor. Reactivation requires one full round.

Holographic Wrapmask
A high-tech disguise device favored by spies, infiltrators, and undercover operatives, the Holographic Wrapmask uses a full-spectrum holographic emitter array to project a realistic and dynamic false face over the user’s own. The mask can store multiple facial profiles or generate randomized features, and includes basic voice modulation and heat signature blending to aid deception. The illusion is difficult to detect except under intense scrutiny or with advanced scanning equipment.

Holographic Wrapmask
Model: Wrapmask Industries Veil-9
Type: Holographic facial disguise system
Cost: 3,000 credits
Availability: 3, X
Game Notes: Allows the wearer to convincingly appear as a different humanoid face. Includes built-in voice scrambler (mimics voice patterns with +2D bonus to con (disguise) rolls). Grants +1D to disguise-related con or forgery attempts at medium range or greater.
At close range or under advanced scans, sensors may detect the disguise with a Moderate sensors or security roll. Wrapmask can store up to 5 preset profiles and generate randomized faces. Functions continuously for 1 hour before requiring a recharge or power cell swap

Shock Axe
A brutal melee weapon that combines a heavy, reinforced axe head with a built-in electro-shock generator. Upon impact, it delivers a powerful electric jolt capable of stunning or disabling opponents, in addition to the physical trauma of the strike. Favored by enforcers, slavers, and gladiators, shock axes are designed to subdue rather than kill, though they are more than capable of lethal damage. Many feature adjustable power settings and are often seen in use by brutal regimes or pirate boarding parties.

Shock Axe
Model: Griven Arms "Stormcleaver"
Type: Electrified melee weapon
Scale: Character
Skill: Melee combat: shock axe
Cost: 750 credits (standard), 1,200 credits (military-grade)
Availability: 2, R (standard), 3, R (military-grade)
Difficulty: Moderate
Damage: STR+2D (maximum 7D) physical+3D stun
Game Notes: On a successful hit, the target takes normal melee damage plus 3D stun damage (resisted separately). If the melee attack beats the target’s resistance roll by 10 or more, they are stunned and knocked prone. Power cell lasts for 10 successful hits before replacement. Power packs cost 50 credits.

Shoulder-Mounted Blaster Cannon
This high-powered, single-barrel energy weapon is mounted to a reinforced harness or powered armor and linked via neural or manual targeting systems. Designed for short bursts of suppressive or high-impact fire, the shoulder-mounted blaster cannon allows the user to engage enemies while keeping their hands free for other weapons or actions. Commonly used by heavy assault troopers, bounty hunters, or cybernetically enhanced mercenaries, it offers significant firepower in a compact, mobile form—often at the cost of maneuverability or discretion.

Shoulder-Mounted Blaster Cannon
Model: Rellin Arms SMC-12H “Backbreaker Mk.II”
Type: Shoulder-mounted heavy blaster cannon
Scale: Character
Skill: Blaster: heavy weapons
Range: 3–50/100/300
Fire Rate: 1
Damage: 6D+2
Ammo: 10
Cost: 2,800 credits
Availability: 4, X
Game Notes: Heavy Weapon Classification: This is a heavy blaster cannon requiring training in blaster: heavy weapons rather than normal blaster. Mounted to shoulder rig or heavy armor harness; triggered by neural interface, command bracer, or encrypted vocal cue.

Sensor Gauntlets
These armored gauntlets integrate compact sensor systems into the forearms and palms, allowing the wearer to perceive environmental data beyond normal human senses. Functions include:

Sensor Gauntlets
Type: Multi-spectral sensor-enhanced gauntlets
Scale: Character
Cost: 1,500 credits
Availability: 2R
Game Notes: +2D to search or tracking rolls in darkness or obscured conditions (smoke, fog, etc.). +1D bonus to initiative or surprise detection rolls when ambushed or detecting hidden foes. +1D bonus to sensor or search rolls to detect electronic devices, weapons, or hidden biological signatures within 20 meters (GM discretion). Data is displayed through an external HUD (helmet visor or ocular implant required) or produces quiet audible prompts if no HUD is present. Sensor gauntlets require a 1-round calibration time to switch between scan modes unless linked to a neural interface. They may suffer interference (-1D) in high radiation zones, ion storms, or jamming fields.
