Subatomic particles pass harmlessly through human bodies at near-c velocities every second they are alive, so that alone isn't a reason to cause physical damage. Ion energy weapons pointedly do not permanently damage machinery, so there apparently isn't much kinetic impact. Just sayin'.
Ion damage does temporarily disable electrical systems, which humans do technically have an organic version of. I have ion damage against organic beings as stun damage, but since it was designed for machinery, organics gain a +1D bonus to resist. I put the bonus on resisting instead of a penalty on damage for the sake of my cybernetics rules. Cybernetics do not get that resistance bonus, so the same damage roll can apply whether it ends up affecting the technology or biology of the character.
Also keep in mind that for my damage system, it is possible with a high enough difference to get wounded from stun damage, so physical damage is still possible from ion damage, and more likely with higher scale ion weapons v organic characters. _________________ *

So a high enough ion shot, could do permanent nerve damage to a person. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

This is a great idea, but it strikes me if you use the normal 2R&E Perception rolls to decide who goes first, that character would have a serious advantage in a duel. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |
