I whipped up some pre-made toons for a person in one of my ongoing games to choose from. I used my house rules for the gear and some of the stats. You can check that out on my house rules thread.

All the toons are set for the Rebellion era. Here are the toons:

Rook Chooda - Ewok Courier that joined the Rebel Alliance

Dexterity 4D+2

Ewoks get +1D to search when using their sense of smell.

Rook was on the way to becoming the greatest scout in his tribe when he came across what he would eventually learn was a black sun go-fer who was on the forest moon of Endor gathering hallucinogenic moss used to create the ‘spice’ Rockna Blue. Rook was scouting out his ship when everything closed up. He remained hidden on that voyage and sneaked out at the next port. He was on another world, a world he never made. Bespin to be precise.

There was no imperial presence on Bespin, and still isn’t if this takes place before ESB. Rook was eventually found and taken in by social services. After some intense schooling and working as a general laborer, he took a job on a ship to see the galaxy now working as a sensor operator.

Rook has been bumming around the galaxy for the last five years, playing catch up with general knowledge. He found he had a talent for smuggling. Not piloting or astrogation, but he could hide illegal cargo better than the best. He eventually found his niche as a courier, smuggling high value cargo past imperial security across the mid to outer rim. He doesn’t have his own ship he uses passenger transports.

One day he was imprisoned by the Imperials, not for smuggling, he was never caught smuggling, but for the crime of being an alien. He was rescued by the Rebel Alliance and has been working with them ever since.

A young human from Correllia, Thon grew up in suburbia outside Coronet City, the Capital of the Correllian star system. He did well in school, academically, sports, and extracurriculars. He joined the Imperial Navy right out of school and quickly realized the Empire was evil and he wanted nothing to do with them.

Thon deserted and joined the Rebel Alliance. Thon is listed in the deserter database and there is a standard bounty for his live return (300 credits)

Special Abilities:

Body Armor: The Verpine's natural chitinous plate armor gives them a +1D bonus against physical attacks.

Microscopic Sight: +1D bonus to search when looking for small objects, due to their highly evolved eyes.

Organic Telecommunication: Because Verpine can send and receive radio waves through their antenna, they have the ability to communicate with other members of their species and with specially-tuned comlinks. The range is very limited when they are acting individually (1 km) but greatly increases when in the hive (covers the entire Roche asteroid field).

Technical Bonus: All Verpine receive a +2D bonus when using their Technical skills.


Roik is a thief who joined the Rebel Alliance. He’s not much for combat, but he’s great at infiltration. There are few security systems out there that he can’t figure out a way around.

Xu was a medical student going to school on a riflery scholarship. Xu after learning of the atrocities caused by the empire, Xu left school and joined the Rebel Alliance.

- Laser Dot +1D to Blaster at short and medium range
Docrtor Kit +1D to (A) Medicine
Armor +1D
Gravity Belt - eliminates fall damage, basically a parachute

Commlink, datapad, multitool
300 credits

Lemm was a co-pilot in commercial shipping when the Empire nationalized the company he worked for and laid off all the Duros. Lemm moved from job to job but the Empire’s discrimination against the Duros was well known, they systematically killed the Duros economy through legal sanctions and nationalization. Lemm joined the rebel alliance and went through their starfighter training.

After a mission went awry, most of his squadron was lost to the empire. Lemm and a few others managed to limp away. The few other survivors are still in bacta tanks, and Lemm has joined another unit as their pilot.

What did you do, just pick a few races with overpowered base stats for min/maxes, and just go hogwild with ubering them up?

Well, I wouldn't put it that way, but yeah.

The game is run on the days when not every one can show up, not the main game. I grab one of the adventure modules and we have fun for three hours or so. Nothing super serious just light fun. Min-maxi g like some of these toons are, is not really a problem in short games.

A few of them, like Zhao Xu, were based off characters I've used in other games so they have more intricate back stories. I toned down my back stories to let the player put their own spin on what should be their toon.

The player wanted examples of "The Best" species for different builds. Part of me wants to drop the standard lecture of all-around characters tend to be more fun to play because they always have something to do, but another part of me is thinking, let them play the game the way that's most fun to them. So I threw Thon in there too, and spared the lecture.

Thon is my standard build for newbies. Well, relatively standard. I use Spot in place of most perception checks, and Tactics for initiative; house rules. If I was going by RAW I'd swap those dice into Sneak and Bargain. Or maybe Con instead of Bargain.

These toons could also make interesting NPCs.

As a thief, Roik would make a solid minor foil or underworld contact for a group. Or maybe there's a bounty on him and you have to get through his lair's defenses to get him in an old school dungeon crawl.

Rook could be your alliance contact, delivering secret orders by hand. Everyone thinks he's a Wookiee midget.

What's a "toon"? From context it seems like you are using it as interchangeable with the terms PC or character. I've read it used in the online gaming world to mean character, but for not P&P/TT RPGs. There is animation involved in video games so it seems more apropos there. In my mind's eye, my RPG adventures take place in live action, so I can't say I'm very fond of the using the term "toon" in this RPG. Maybe if I was playing a Roger Rabbit RPG...

My reaction was merely "6D Dex?" (for anyone). I have a rule for designing templates that PCs may not have any attribute over 5D, even if the species has a max that high (meaning the max is only for NPCs). And there is also a rule that there can't be more than one attribute over 3D+2. These rules are to prevent munchkinism...

Thank you. This is one of the funniest sentences I have every read here. This guy has assassin-level sharpshooting ability, and to think that this murder-machine is paying for med school with it is quite entertaining.

But he isn't only a pro at shooting blasters. He also good godlike ability to avoid danger. Because this student takes to heart his med school's motto: "The best doctor is one you don't need."

Not just assassin level shooting, but accrobatics, running better than most olympians (since running is dex based), shooting missiles, throwing grenades or spears/daggers etc..
