|
|
Long Story short, i've been reviewing info for Naboo Starfighters & Royal Cruiser.
Comparing the D6 Conversions to other sources it seems the N-1 should be Space 9, not 8, which is fine with me if that is the case.
The Naboo Royal Cruiser, rather surprised me, as according to The Official Star Wars Fact File, the Royal Cruiser has an Atmospheric speed of 2,000 km/h. Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles confirms this.
I am curious what your 2¢ on the matter may be.
Anywho, as i was struggling a bit with a headache & trying to wake up & clear my head, i made a Hypothetical Extension to my Revised & Expanded Speed Chart as a thought exercise. Enjoy!

That... is pretty bloody fast.
I dunno, I find it odd that it's over twice as fast as its predecessor, the Nubian. Also, it's designed to carry 4 N-1's as escorts, but their top speed is 1,100 km/h.
I'd be inclined to say that there's a bit of a mistake there and the top speed is actually 1,100 km/h. |

And Space 32! ¡Ay, caramba! |
I made some counting errors. Below is the corrected numbers & placement. My apologies.

While the 2,000 km/h is an interesting idea, making *anything* faster than the TIE Defender Type II(581; 1,680 kmh) is gonna be a tough sell for a Starfighter, and out of the question for anything else.
Space: 5
Atmosphere: 295; 850 kmh
Space: 26
Atmosphere: 705; 2,000 kmh
/////////////////////////////Average of the conflicting speeds//
Space: 15
Atmosphere: 495; 1,425 kmh
The fastest an excessively (expensively) modified version would go. Many will "Want That Ship!" Be prepared for the whole galaxy coming after you...
Space: 9
Atmosphere: 383; 1,100 kmh
More probable "stock" build for the 'custom' made Royal Cruisers. _________________ Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself.

Yeah, I'd probably put the 'stock' version at Space 7 and the customized 'Royal' version at Space 9. |

I guess that's reasonable. |
So i've been thinking about it & did a little digging for more info.
The Naboo Royal Cruiser was purpose-built for Speed, specifically to be faster than its predecessor. The Millennium Falcon started its life as a light freighter, with a humble Space: 4, Atmosphere: 280; 800 kmh.
Code: | https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/J-type_327_Nubian_royal_starship
Length 76 meters[3]
Maximum atmospheric speed 920 km/h

Space Move/Atmosphere Examples
5 295; 850 km/h Toscan 8-Q ftr, Lambda-class Shuttle, Tydirium, Lancet Aerial Artillery
6 320; 920 km/h J-type 327 Nubian royal starship
6 330; 950 km/h B-wing, CloakShape Ftr, Svelte-cl Imp Shtl, CR90 Corvette, MC80 Cruiser, Rebel Assault Frigate

Space: 8 (Rebellion), 11 (New Republic)
Atmosphere: 365; 1,050 kmh (Rebellion), 435; 1,300 kmh (New Republic) |
While Space: 7 technically achieves this, it is imhho, the bare minimum. I don't see the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps being satisfied with the bare minimum, especially if they pride themselves with the quality of their work.
The Empire has no shortage of unaerodynamic flying boxes in both EU/Legends & Canon that are Space: 9. Even the Rebels had the Med Runner.
In the CT/OT, Han's Falcon was a Work In Progress which at the time, was twice as fast as its class. I imagine Han got it to Space: 9 shortly after Bakura.
Dark Empire wrote: | Space: 9
Atmosphere: 415; 1,200KMH |
To reconcile the RAW's Space/Atmosphere discrepancy, my headcanon is the Falcon was Space: 9, Atmosphere: 400; 1,150 km/h at the start of Dark Empire, and Space: 10, Atmosphere: 415; 1,200 km/h by the end. AFAIK, ALL Later sourcebooks agree on the Falcon being Space: 11.
Side Note, i figure Lando's Falcon was Space: 6, Atmosphere: 330; 950 km/h in either continuity.
Therefore, it is my determination that the stock Naboo Royal Cruiser is a Space: 9, Atmosphere: 400; 1,150 km/h ship as built by the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps. As each one is custom built, i can see some sacrificing speed for various reasons, such as cheaper engines for one.
As i tumbled down this rabbit hole, i'd found discrepancies in various stats for the Gallofree Yards YKL-37R Nova Courier...
Star Wars D6 - Conversion - Rebellion Era Campaign Guide wrote: | Space: 5
Atmosphere: 280; 800 kmh |
According to YKL-37R Nova Courier, the Rebellion Era Campaign Guide is the source for 800 kmh in the d20 stats. So my stock YKL-37R Nova Courier is Space: 4, Atmosphere: 280; 800 kmh, while a commonly modified one is Space: 5, Atmosphere: 295; 850 kmh.
I'd like to thank you both for your input, it is most helpful! Space: 26, Atmosphere: 705; 2,000 km/h is ridiculously fast, and i like Space: 9 better than Space: 15 for the Naboo Royal Cruiser. Thank you again for helping me to find the best solution! _________________ Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself.
