Seen that one, but it's definitely relevant to this topic. I see two ways for that to work w/r/t the "empty" GR75 shots posted above. Either one large "container" that takes up the entire bay, with a ramp on the bow for loading and unloading (allows a stock GR75 to function as a troop transport) or a modified GR75 that completely removes the container handling rig and turns the entire open space into an enclosed bay, again with a loading ramp in front.
Both versions have their pros and cons. The "large container" version won't be able to carry as much, but will be more versatile for other uses (since it still has the stock container grappling system), while the modified version loses that versatility in favor of more capability in the specific role of internally carried troops / cargo / whatever. Both versions could exist side-by-side, in fact. I could easily see the Alliance using the modified versions as their primary LST, with stock versions fitted with "large containers" supplementing them as needed. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. And if it has the 'stock cargo' version, it could be used for freight one mission, hauling a group of rebels the next... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Technically, they both could. A version that replaces the external container handling with an enclosed bay is simply an enlarged version of the stock light freighter, hauling similar cargos internally. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I think we'll get a 'ton' of mileage out of these...
Bonura's conversion should be applied to the GR-75s, shouldn't they?
Length 90 meters x 120% = 108 meters
Has the GR-45 been given a Length? _________________ Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself.

An idea i had - a privately-owned GR-75 converted into a Troop Transport during the Clone Wars.
Cargo Capacity 9,000 mt
Passengers 300-500 (troops/other); ≈1,000 (emergency)
Hyperdrive x1
Hyperdrive Backup x10
Space 5
Atm 295; 850 km/h
Maneuver 1D
Hull 5D
Shields 3D
Weapons
4+ Twin Laser Cannons (fire-linked)
2+ Ion Cannons
Tractor Beam Projector
-possibly a Smuggling ship before the CW...
-c.15 BBY/4 EY, has a Clone Commando as the Cook & other retired Clones as Crew
-in the post-CW eras, takes charters to transport passengers, rarely if ever getting Imperial charters...
-Hull was painted White with a Black trim after the wartime mods were made...

If you're going for Clone Wars era, you might want to make it a GR-45, the GR-75's older sibling. The timeline has the GR-75 being built in the interwar period. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. This brings us back to my earlier question: Has the GR-45 been given a Length? _________________ Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself.

When did you ask that? It certainly wasn’t in this topic… _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Odd. I could swear that wasn't there when I first read the post. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Based on the one look we get of it, it's comparable to the GR-75, and Length really is one of the least consequential game stats. Just make something up that sounds believable. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Are you certain?

Odd. I could swear that wasn't there when I first read the post. |
If you read it in the first few minutes it was posted, yeah; in the minutes that followed i made a couple edits. Don't sweat it!
Anywho, since indigestion/gas kept me up all night, i made some searches, and 60 meters is the popular size for the GR-45.
So...
GR-45 Length 60 meters; x 120% = 72 meters
GR-55 Length 70 meters; x 120% = 84 meters
GR-65 Length 80 meters; x 120% = 96 meters
GR-75 Length 90 meters; x 120% = 108 meters
Where do you get that the GR-75s didn't exist during the Clone Wars? Wookiepedia, while not a gold standard, has no info on when the ship entered service, in either Canon or Legends. If it was WEG or WotC, then which book & page, please? _________________ Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself.

What's the source?

Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, pg. 136 (Chapter 9: Support Services) in the stats for Medium Transports. Quote: | The Alliance got most of its medium transports direct from the manufacturer, Gallofree Yards, Inc., buying them through third-party agents for well below suggested retail price when Gallofree went bankrupt several years back. |
Wookieepedia has it that KDY bought up Gallofree in 5BBY, so GR-75's were being produced up to that point. If the GR-45 was a predecessor model, then having one be out of service at a junk yard on Tatooine makes sense. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I read that & 2 other sourcebooks... When & How the Rebels acquired them is not the same as when they hit the market. It does suggest that the 75 was the last model in the series. Nothing more.
Since there is nothing in either canon to contradict my presumption that there were GR-75s in the CW, i'm sticking with it. It works for my SWU; if yours didn't have them yet, that is fine. _________________ Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself.

Also, a private troop ship is awfully mission specific. Better to leave it a tramp freighter that can double as a passenger liner or troop ship. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
