I know it has been pretty well covered in this thread, and really was not about adding a Critical Hit mechanic to D6, but I wanted to share my thoughts of some test rules that were in development intended for publication before the whole project went bust:
Critical Hits
If an attack roll exceeds the difficulty by 2x or more, then +1D to roled damage for each multiple of the difficulty (3x is +2D, 4x is +3D, etc...)
For less crunchy you could change it to a 6 on the wild die for an attack getting a Bonus Die for every consecutive 6 rolled.*
*Both of these were tested in my D6 development group that ran 2005 through 2007 and both were well received and kept bonus damage rare but rewarding. I remember One specific instance using the Wild Die method where a lot of subsequent 6s were rolled and we added a note that Criticals should not be allowed to more than double the base weapon Die Code. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |

Thanks for sharing KageRyu!
I think that is a good to know - reminds me a bit of the optional damage bonus in D6 Space/Adventure - so I can see the evolution path there.
Subtract the difficulty of the successful attack from the skill total and divide this number by 5, rounding up. Add this damage bonus to the damage
total before comparing it to the resistance total.
- From d6 Adventure/Space, Optional Damage Bonus
My group uses success dice (similar to d6 legend, and mythic d6) so it is even faster for us - each success (which happens on a 4+) is +1 on the damage roll. the math's are close enough, but the application is pretty fast. _________________ SW Fan, Gamer, Comic, Corporate nerd.

I think I found a simple definition for critical hits that should serve my purposes.
If a lightsaber roll exceeds the difficulty by 10 or more, the Jedi lands a critical hit, inflicting additional damage. |
