I have been dusting off some old plans for a KotOR campaign that I've been keeping around for 5 years, in which Revan turned again to the Dark Side to defeat Malak to take over the Sith Empire, and then got betrayed by Bastila to take over the Sith Empire. Revan had been wasting fleets and troops in constant battles against the Republic, which was ruining the Sith Empire that he left for Bastila to manage. Once she had Revan removed, she changed the strategy to fortify the Empire and take the time to create forces that could actually defeat the Republic in the long run.
While the Republic is still much bigger and with much more resources, it's also not as efficient at rebuilding its battered fleets. The Sith still want to get any edge on the Republic that they can and have several secret plans to tip things in their favor.
One of the plans is to make a deal with the ruthless Adascorp on Arkania, whose last boss tried to mind-control giant space slugs into attacking ships and sell the control devices to the highest bidder in the Mandalorian Wars. Arkania is still a Republic world and the new boss claims to have had nothing to do with the teason of his deceased predecessor, so their work with the Sith has to be completely secret. Being famous geneticists, bio-engineers, and creators of medicine, Adascorp is working on a bioweapon that will weaken the Republic right before the Sith will begin their next new invasion.
The planet Telos 4 was destroyed by Malak but would now be a very valuable agricultural world for the Sith Empire, so Bastila also launched the Telos Restoration Project to reverse the ecological damage. For that purpose the Sith captured and enslaved large numbers of Ithorian biologists and ecologists and are promising them their freedom if they can fix Telos 4. This giant project on an already devastated planet makes it the perfect place for the Adascorp scientists to work on the bioweapon and also trick Ithorian scientists into help them unknowingly.
I think this is all a pretty cool setup and only one of three secret plots by the Sith Empire to strengthen their power in preparation for resuming the war with the Old Republic.
But there's still one really big important question? What does the bioweapon actually do?
I feel some kind of killer-death-plague that will wipe out billions wouldn't be a tonal fit for Star Wars. And also Bastila is supposed to be more calculated and careful than Revan, Malak, Freedon Nadd, and Naga Sadow, so she wouldn't unleash a weapon that could spread to the Empire or would wipe out the planets she wants to conquer.
Since the Telos Restoration Project is about restoring the environment of an agricultural world, maybe it could be something that disrupts the Republic's food production instead of targeting people. (And I also decided years ago that the new boss of Adascorp would be called Monsanto Adasca, which would be even more hilarious.) _________________ "Adventure? Eh... Excitement? Eh... The bioweapon could be a virus that doesn't kill everyone but severely weakens the health of populations. It taxes the healthcare systems of planets, plus leads to manufacturing and logical product supply issues. There could even be vaccines that are proven to help both prevent the transmission of the virus and lessen its impact on the vaccinated, but the villains could be behind a disinformation campaign about the virus and and manufacture wild conspiracy theories. This further polarizes populations so that a significant portion of them refuse vaccinations and practicing other safety measures, which of course unnecessarily prolongs the pandemics of the effected worlds.
Never mind, that plot sucks. _________________ *

I was thinking with the boss of the evil bioengineering company Adascorp being called Monsanto Adasca, perhaps his scientists could be creating a microbe that poisons the soil, which is mixed in with industrial fertilizer that is being sold in the Republic. Then after the planets have been conquered by the Sith, they can be used grow genetically engineered Asascorp crops that are resistant to the poison.
Perhaps also a bit far fetched...
They are testing it on Telos, because after each test they can just turbolaser the whole island to kill the microbes and wait for the existing poison to break down. That's also how you get the Ithorian ecologists to help by making them work on the poison resistant crops.
And in case the deal with the Sith falls through or the Sith lose the war, Adascorp can still distribute the contaminated fertilizer to their customers in the Republic.
Great Adascorp ploy, but it somehow doesn't have the magic Sith touch to it... _________________ "Adventure? Eh... Excitement? Eh... A Jedi does not crave these things."
