I know, dying of sadness was bad, and the conclusion of "I struck Mace Windu, so killing all the children is only logical thing to do" was bad. But I can excuse those as poor execution in presentation of something that would have made sense in an early draft.
And yes, somehow Palpatine returned in Dark Empire.
But... but this? And all those lightsaber helicoper goons? Cloning a secret only the Sith knew?
This genuinely hurts me emotionally. _________________ "Adventure? Eh... Excitement? Eh... A Jedi does not crave these things."

I was thinking today, wouldn't it be great if we had Star Wars specific Logical Fallacy memes? If I were not having trouble with my Graphics workstation I would try to make some. Things Like:
I have the High Ground
Only a Sith Deals in Absolutes
From a certain point of view
I Can't see with the blast shield down
It's not impossible
It's a trap
etc... _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |

Neat idea, but I wouldn't want to see these memes thrown around carelessly. Logical fallacies do occur here at times, but I have also seen false accusations of logical fallacies thrown around, which is yet another fallacy.
For example, one time someone clearly demonstrated a misunderstanding that I was not in agreement with a point he made when I actually was, and he proceeded to 'dumb down' his mathematical based argument as if I opposed it and was too stupid to understand it. When I mentioned that I had a degree in Mathematics so the dumbing down wasn't necessary, he got even more argumentative and said the mere mention of my degree was committing the 'appeal to authority' fallacy. Appeal to authority is a fallacy when it is used in place of an actual argument, which wasn't the case. In reality, he was either too angry to realize I was agreeing with him, and/or an @sshole that just liked to argue. Thankfully, he isn't here anymore.
And in general we can't just disregard expertise when we don't have it. That is some serious Dunning-Kruger effect, a cognitive bias. For example, I have no illusions that driving an automatic U-haul moving truck for my last move gave me even the slightest insight about operating an 18-wheeler. I've seen people say, "it is almost the same." Ridiculous.
In college I was a math major but had a minor was in Philosophy and Religion. I actually took a course called "Logic and Critical Thinking". It was one of my favorite classes. We had an entire unit on Logical Fallacies and I got a 100% on my Logical Fallacies test. I don't mention this to appeal to my authority in any argument. I mention this to point out that the first example above isn't the only time I have observed false accusations of logical fallacies here. _________________ *

Can't disagree.
I did want to touch on this

I sort of know exactly what you mean. I did Pizza Delivery for a long time, and delivered in everything from a compact, to a Station Wagon, to a van, and there is definitely a level of comfort you develop with the vehicle you drive every day as opposed to someone else's or a different style. When I moved from Ohio to Massachusetts I rented a 26 foot U-haul... and man was that a whole other ball of wax. Even when I started getting used to the feel and the weight, I was still white knuckling it... and that was an automatic. I don't want to touch a manual transmission anything. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |
