Not really. That line of thinking is grounded in the idea that WEG never made mistakes and that everything they did was done for a specific reason. It makes more sense to recognize that the WEG writers were operating on a budget and a deadline and that they made mistakes and omissions that they didn't have time to correct. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. With the sheer # of books they made without any corrections to it though, youd have thought if it WAS a mistake, someone SOMEWHERE would have noticed.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Who says they didn't make any corrections? Operating on a budget and a deadline just means they didn't have time to catch everything, so to cover their bases, they added a note telling GMs and players to make their own rules to suit the needs of their campaign (see my signature).
Honestly, the assumption of WEG infallibility is one of the most persistent problems with the EU. They developed a wonderful gaming system, but they got all kinds of stuff wrong, stuff that we, the fanatical devotees of the system, are only thinking to ask decades later. It's highly unlikely that a bunch of game designers and writers, with just months to work with before their book goes to the publisher (not to mention all the other books they were working on), would catch absolutely everything. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. RAW supremacy has reared its ugly head occasionally over the years, which is why it is mentioned in the forum guidelines. But what CRM is speaking to includes an unconscious bias for such things, resulting in a couple recent cases I have seen where people think discrepancies or omissions in rules are cryptic mysteries to be interpreted. The flawed assumption some WEG fans make is not considering some of these things are just simple mistakes. Editors were overworked and had to make sure things were formatted correctly more than making sure the rules were complete and consistent. _________________ *

Well, I'm almost positive there's at least one member of this forum whose default setting is "WEG said it, therefore it's true." Can't quite remember his name, though... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. They are rare in my game anyway, but I'm just giving all vibro weapons all a hum and being done with it. |
I'm going along with this way of thinking. |

I have a VIBRBO Razor Gilette manufacting I think, they should be galaxy wide.
it made me think that Vibro "blades" do have verious noise lvels depending on their use and condruction.
my Vibro Razor makes a very very faint humming noise when I hold it.
the vibrations caused by turning on the vibro function makes the razon make some slightly louder humming as it vibrates against a solid surface.
So I would think that the sound level if anything varies and maybe can be adjusted depending on the product |

My vibro-razor has 5 blades and gives an extremely close shave. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

I never noticed any kind of mention about any sound in any stories I read.
Could very well be ultrasonic. _________________ "Adventure? Eh... Excitement? Eh... A Jedi does not crave these things."

While I know not everyone follows them - anyone remember if the vibro blades in the bad batch had a sound effect?
Me, personally- I think they make a noise.
I mean, come on - making cool sword fighting noises is half the fun of playing star wars (my players love the silly lightsaber sound effect apps....).
bonus: That gives the option for more expensive stealthy ones that don't.

I think those used by assassins are silenced but there are some versions with an intimidating hum - just like predator's smart disc. _________________ Don’t Let the Rules Get in the Way of a Good Story. |
