|
|
Hey, all.
Just a quick question for my first post here: were there ever any rules to deal with Mishaps for modified personal equipment and weapons similar to the rules for ship modification in Tramp Freighters?
I ran a search of the forums to try and find something, but nothing I found seemed to discuss this. If I missed it, apologies in advance!
Thanks! |

Modifying armor and weapons properly is dealt with on R&E p.60 and 62. There aren't any codified mishap rules per se. On p.60 it says that even for successful modifications the GM could give occasional quirks and problems. On p.62 it says failed modifications could have recurring quirks and it gives a couple examples. I often take advantage of Wild Die 1 complications for tech issues.
There are codified mishap rules for improper, temporary improvements to equipment, called "jury-rigs," in the introduction of Fantastic Technology. _________________ *

Gotcha. That confirmed my suspicions.
Looks like I’ll be adapting the stuff from Tramp Freighters, then. 😁 |

Will do. As a matter of forum etiquette; should I post my thoughts on it here, or start a new thread in House Rules? |

It technically will be House Rules, but it is understood that official rules discussions tend to become house rule discussions, so if you really wanted to post it here, you could.

This sentence is in the welcome posts for both forums. _________________ *

One potential starting point for generic mishap results would be the Damaged Armor / Weapons rules on pg. 95 of 2R&E. They don't provide specifics, but they do provide varying degrees of penalty that can be applied to pretty much any device with a dice modifier as part of its stat. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
