Like the High Republic Era source stuff or not, I think it is a fascinating era for play. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on it being a good era for play. |
Basically? It's got the Jedi at the height of their power and moral authority... the Jedi are what Obi-wan named them, the guardians of peace and justice. They're not mired in politics like the Clone Wars era Jedi, nor rotting from their own corruption. They're not the scattered individuals of the Rebellion Era, or the nascent order of the post-Rebellion Era. It's a time that can really let Jedi shine, if you're wanting to play Jedi.
However, the High Republic material doesn't skimp on expertise of non-Jedi... the Jedi themselves don't, partially because they maintain the moral authority they're supposed to have. Jedi are good, but they're not sufficient to run the entire galaxy, and they're often ignorant of the situation on the ground in the Outer Rim.
Lastly, the Outer Rim is a great frontier, with remnants of old societies that are largely forgotten. They've set up some violent pirates as a big enemy, but there are flashbacks to others, the Drengir (who are plant aliens... Dark Side, but vastly different than seeing yet more Sith).
What it comes back to, for me, is that you can be a hero, in the company of heroes. It doesn't have the desperation of the Rebellion, or the looming tragedy of the Clone Wars, but a sense of purpose, of the line "We are All the Republic". It's a very different feel from the others... somewhat more Lensmen than Flash Gordon, if you will. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"
