So, the Value skill says that a new Astromech should run about 1000 credits. An R2 unit runs just over 4500.
What can that 1000cr astromech do?

You get a potato of a knock-off R5 astromech that is an a**hole even worse than Chopper from Star Wars: Rebels.
If you're very, very lucky, he won't blue screen on the way to the astrogation computer to try and upload the calculations.
To be fair, you really, really shouldn't have trusted that Squib that sold the droid to you. |

Well used R2 Unit sold
1000 credits for a well used droid can easily be argued is a fair price.
1000 credits new or 1000credits "awailable" in the latter I see no issues with a r2 unit sold or bought for 1000cr given the "used and the discounts" that easily and reasobabley can be applied |

Used, or "fell off the speeder truck".
Such as TT-8R series or Ru-5TY series asstromechs by Serv-O-Droid, Inc.
Huttese is the default language, its other language options are Rodian and basic. Selecting basic has a 60% chance of the droid getting stuck in Huttese or Rodian.
These 'mechs aare SSALTY...
Maybe yu get a mobility-impaired s19...
