Has anyone converted any of the existing starships to the D6 Space 4 point system? I like how they factor in the energy use of equipment. _________________ Only the good die young? What about Wedge, he's good and still alive! |

No, but I do know of a guy off-Pit who's using it as the basis of a Starship Build system. Considering it's this guy, I expect it to be absolutely epic once it's done. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Well I am excited to see the results of that. _________________ Only the good die young? What about Wedge, he's good and still alive! |

I'm pretty rigorously playtesting the system in my current Star Wars group to see how badly my players can abuse it and how well it helps me as a GM to answer random player questions with some underlying structure I can tap into for internally consistent answers based in Star Wars lore. I wanted people here on Rancornet to get a crack at input. I've appreciated the ideas so far from CRMcNeill!
I would be happy to share the PDF with Rancorpit once it gets published in the next Star Wars Adventure Journal. |

I'm working on it...
It took me ten years to solve for price on weapons. Once I have: price, mass, energy consumption per round, and maybe size, I will start reverse engineering ships. The system will be based on D6 Space/D6 Spaceships but with a generous injection of rocket science. For example, you cant have fixed specs for maneuvering jets and sublight drives, they must be proportional to the total tonnage of the ship.
D6 Space/D6 Spaceships was a nice try and was probably the leftovers of the new sourcebook on ships mentioned in the Star Wars Adventure Journal "Coming December 1998" that never came because WEG went bankrupt. Its a massive project and I hope I finish it in my lifetime. _________________ Star Wars Deckplans Alliance

I also have been working on reworking the space combat and stats for space ships in D6 star wars.
The d6space is a bit more detailed than the SWD6 stuff, but some of it gets really granular.
I also looked at the power mgmt content from pirates and privateers (yes, it is for bigger ships - but conceptually still power).
I am leaning toward a more simplified blended approach (some groups like a lot of math and crunch - some like more streamlined).
I totally can relate to FVBonura's comment of "in my lifetime" - as I have literally been toying with space ship construction rules for various game systems for literally decades (all the way back to traveler and star frontiers knight hawks) and specifically my SWD6 house rules for at least 3 years...
I do just have to get it done - it is very easy to get stuck in analysis paralysis - and the incredibly difficult task of balancing complexity vs. ease of use without sacrificing conceptual detail. _________________ SW Fan, Gamer, Comic, Corporate nerd.
Working on massive House Rules document - pretty much a new book. Will post soon.... |

I know your pain pakman.
Nobody likes to do difficult math which is why I’m building the entire system into a spreadsheet. You’ll be able to look at a pull down list to bring up any specific ship and then the software will give you a breakdown of all the components with the four factors (cost, weight, energy consumption, volume).
I’m trying to develop the spreadsheet so that you can make changes and modifications, on the fly, and it will give you a price and performance changes for said modifications and you will be able to add and store your own personal ships in the database that you can bring up And modify. The reason why I’m working on weapons first is because about 40% of the weapons in the role-playing game have no prices so I decided I was going to solve the problem systemically from the smallest palm blaster all the way up to the super lasers on the death stars. Phase one is essentially complete I am now moving on. I am more than willing to share if you’re interested. I honestly could use a little peer review. _________________ Star Wars Deckplans Alliance
