We see in ANH when the empire board the tantive v that some of the first troopers though the door are shot, we see a clare hole in the armor breasplate.
Wer also see fighting take place elsewhere in the movies, with stomies for the most part going down when hit, however we do see that people do take multiple hits before going down as well.
now seeing what a blaster does to the platoid, it burns right through it even if the plastiod do disperse some of the energy as intended, it was never designed to withstand direct hits.
now how many hts can you take before you expensive suit is not longer usable
when is it no longer effective armor.
I am thinking an armor with +2D for energy damage loose +1 pip pr hit and +2 pr hard hit.
the charcter rolls 5D his strenght 3D and armor 2D to resist the balster rifle shot 5D
he rolls 15 and the rifle hits with 20 +5Over and it is hard hit the armor next time is only 1D+1 defensive
next shot that lands the player now rolls 4D+1 his strenght 3D and his damaged armor 1D+1
he rolls 18
the rifle shot lands again for 5D damage and the roll is 20 again.
this time it is only a +2 over the defensive roll, and is a light hit reducing armor effectivivty by 1pip.
next roll is at armor +1D and so on
a modern day kevlar vest can be at best used upto three times and still retain balistic stoppong properties, but a four and five time wearing significantly lessesn the effectiveness of the armor.
so I am thinking that if there really was no real skill impacting penalties, as related to the armor penalty thread, then a "limited" use would be a penalty by it self, preventing every plauer form stocking up in the best possible armor.
as to the empire and other large organizations, these have the needed facitlies and rescuourses to repace the damaged plates, to make new armors etc... player do not. |

Not bad, but RAW already has rules for damaged armor losing its effectiveness (which I slightly tweaked here). Maybe when making suggestions how to handle armor damage in the game, it would help if you described the problem you have with the way it works now. _________________ *

As Whill says, there already Exists rules for armor losing protective value/being damaged, based on what Damage level you take.
As per page 94/95 in the R&E rule book. IF a character gets injured, his armor is lightly damaged (and suffers a -1 pip protective penalty)
IF the character is incap, the armor is heavily damaged, suffering -1d
If the character is mortally wounded, the armor is Severely damaged (has no protective value till repaired).
And if the character is killed, the armor is Destroyed!!! _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
