Congratulations, Whill! Alcoholism took my grandfather, so I'm very proud of anyone who can free themselves from it. _________________ Currently playing D&D 5E and painting an unholy amount of miniatures. |

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. My brother was a heavy alcoholic until last year when a cancerous growth was discovered in his bladder that had to be removed, and the doctor got right in his face and told him point blank, "If you don't stop drinking, you will die." It worked and he stopped. This year the growth grew back and had to be removed again, but it was smaller and not aggravated by drinking, so it went smoother. Now he has to get it checked more often since it is likely to keep growing back.
My step-dad was a few years into his sobriety when I first met him. A good friend lost his father to alcoholism many years ago, and he eventually got sober before I did. They were my two main inspirations. But this pandemic has taken a toll on my friend and he has unfortunately had two disastrous relapses. He seems to be in a bit better headspace now.
The mere thought of me drinking alcohol now makes me feel a little sick. Thank you everyone for your support. I really appreciate it! _________________ *
