The best example I can find in the WEG material is Chidee Na Mak, the Duros who runs the Star Forge Shipyard. His highest Tech skill is 6D, and he is actually a better Space Transports pilot (7D) than he is a mechanic.
Of course, Na Mak also runs the shipyards, which requires a certain degree of business acumen. I'm picturing Crumnix as more the anti-social brains who works in back with someone else fronting the office for him. |
Sounds good to me, lay him out with the 7 more skill dice and 95 character points and we'll see what he looks like! _________________ RR

CRMcNeill wrote: | Okay, so, per the RAW, you can put starting dice in Advanced Skills if you meet the prerequisites. Of the five Advanced Skills, three of them had prerequisites at 5D, so I bumped those three up to 5D, then put the remaining 4D into the Engineering skills. That left me with the 6 CP cost to purchase 1D in the remaining skill
And incidentally, if it were 1 CP for every 10 posts, I'd have 1,017 CP to work with at this point. Depending on which one you meant, I have either 95 or 1,011 left.

Whill, Raven, you still interested in having me make a cameo in your campaigns? At this point, based on post count, I've got 137 CPs to spend. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Background: Cruminx Ugg is a male Besalisk who works as the lead mechanic at a starship repair shop on {Planet} in the Outer Rim. He is friendly enough under normal circumstances, but tends to get lost in his work, and gets crotchety if he's interrupted or questioned. His occasional outbursts have driven off customers in the past, so he tends to stay in the repair shop during business hours, leaving the customer service to {NPC} who handles the business and customer service end of things. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. That's perfect. In my game he'll probably be based in a Minos or Elrood sector world (which is outer rim).
A major human NPC in the campaign is partially based on myself. I'm also going to have an alien NPC partially inspired a member here who hasn't posted in a very long time, but I won't say who. _________________ *

I'm going to have him be one of the engineers on Starforge Station.
By the way, I love the quote! _________________ RR

Maybe Crumnix could be a roving mechanic who travels around the galaxy, setting up temporary shop in rented hangers. The other NPC mentioned in the Background could be a transport captain who delivers freight all over the Outer Rim, but he sometimes leaves Crumnix somewhere for a month and comes back for him. (The captain may even use the rented hanger as temporary storage for non-urgent freight when a higher priority delivery needs the space in the ship's holds.)
So CRM, do you think you may have any motivation to make a freighter captain character who is business partners with Crumnix? Just throwing out an idea. _________________ *

It took me over 2 1/2 years just to finish this one and you want me to start on another?
Perhaps he would be better as a multi-verse character that slots in where needed as needed. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

A multi-dimensional being who will randomly appear on a world with a high enough Streetwise or Investigation roll!
He and his shop are like Baba Yaga and her hut? _________________ RR
