Since the mission is heading into its fourth week, the write up is becoming too long for a single post. I've therefore split it into two! Part II should be up this time next week!

Assault on Repair Station M13 Part 1:

Oh, and I got around to creating a sector map for the Fakir Sector. Thought some GMs might find it useful - though it could do with hyperlanes and journey times.

Excellent, thanks!

I may not use it, however - the PCs may react badly to what's about to happen next week. I think it's going to be 50/50 after whether or not they'll be staying in the Fakir sector! If they do stay, I will go to the trouble of creating the hyperlanes and will use that, cheers!

Earlier than anticipated - the devastating conclusion to Assault on Repair M13!

Wow. Running the battle with 4 maps simultaneously sounds hard. I'm pretty sure I've never had more than 2 at a time. I have had other stuff going on at the same time which did not directly involve the PCs so was handled as off-screen narration. You must be a Super-GM. Fedoras off to you. I hope your players appreciate you. Not all GMs could pull that off.

I can understand having no special love for the Longshot or its NPCs, but I have only ran a campaign with the PC ship being a YT-1300 in my very first campaign. At the time it was the only option for a PC-group ship in the first two game books and I didn't yet feel confident enough as a GM to create my own ships. (I think we moved the cockpit to the other side just to be different, but I honestly can't remember for sure and no sketches or definitive notations survive.) Before other campaigns started we had the Lantillian short hauler and other ships to choose from, and I began to feel that PCs having the same ship as the Falcon was a suspension of disbelief. A lot of players have agreed. YT-1300s have still occasionally appeared in adventures, but just not as the primary PC ship. I've had players who were indifferent to the PC ship model, but I've never had a player that was disappointed that I disallowed YT-1300 as a PC ship option. But if a YT-1300 helps your players with immersion, then mission accomplished. It's not like there aren't plenty of other YT-1300s in the galaxy.

Overall it seems like a successful adventure considering the RO tone and character death rate your group feels is acceptable. I'm looking forward to reading about the further adventures of your campaign.

Thanks Whill, that means a lot coming from a GM like yourself! I'm humbled! I won't lie - I never expected this to happen and was stressed at certain points!

I suppose different groups like different things, but I think that's good that your players are open to different ships!
In fairness to my group, in their previous campaign, they had a mini-fleet by the end - a YT-1300, a Firespray and another ship which I can't recall so they are open to others as well! I think the YT-1300 just acts as a shorthand to immersion for them. The nostalgia is strong in them.

Thanks - it means a lot to get great feedback like this from yourself and others (notably Raven!) and keeps me motivated to continue writing up the sessions!

For anyone that wants to run this mission, here's a post with all of my notes, images and maps! There's even a few little unused extras that didn't feature in the write up (curse my players)!

Wow, that took an extra dark turn real quick. Yeah, probably wasn't the best idea to put the bloodthirsty tough native in charge, was that decided by the players?

Very impressive running 4 separate battles at once. Like Whill, I think the most I've ever had it is having to worry about 2 separate battles, helmet's off to you.

Any idea what you're going to be running next?

Cheers RR! Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, though stressful, it was fun to run as well. I enjoyed the RotJ feel that running simultaneous ground & air battles provided.

I have been thinking about the next few adventures a lot.

At the moment it will be:

To Free the Forgotten (Rules Companion)
The Plant (Mission 4 of 5 in the Long Shot campaign)
The Rebels of Chayloon (Star Padre's excellent adventure)
Home-brew Mission concerning one of the PC's background
Scavenger Hunt
Lens Reekeene is Missing (Mission 5 of 5 in the Long Shot campaign)*

From there on I will get into the classic modules like Tatooine Manhunt, Strikeforce Shantipole etc - but will break it up with more home-brew Fakir Sector goodness.

*Actually, I could really do with some suggestions from the community about how to run the "Cat and Mouse" segment of this outline. I have got garrison schematics, but I'm not having any inspiration about what kind of encounters to run. The outline can be found in the "Classic Adventures" supplement. Suggestions very much welcomed - thanks!

And sorry, yes! It was the players who decided that the Tough Native would take charge, but it wasn't because they wanted him in to lead them - rather, none of them wanted the job! It was a terrible decision since he kept charging in to ridiculous situations, but it's great from a narrative point of view... Now the team have beef with the General - and JiBa is mine to control! *Evil laugh*

I see a Cyber Samurai/Ronin in the future. I wonder if he'll leave the Alliance. Maybe become a Merc or Bounty Hunter.

Watch this space!

Did you think the adventure post was okay? I'm sure it could do with more detail, but enough for fellow GMs to make use of?
