Hi,
I've always loved the setting and the idea of this game but never ran it. Anyone have experience with it? Looking for tips and ideas. Can anyone recommend a good line of (currently available) Lizardmen miniatures to use alongside the WEG ones? Any changes to the script that anyone found necessary? I have always wanted to run a Masterhome campaign and am thinking this is the time to do it. |

Ninja, it's from the first adventure, "Tests of the Godking," in the "Longshot Campaign" from the Star Wars Campaign Pack. Masterhome is what the Anointed People, a race of feudal, sentient lizard people, call the planet Abonshee, which actually translates to "Masterhome."
The Anointed People also show up in a picture in the Miniatures Battle book in the section on Morale, page 32, defending their homes from a squad of stormtroopers. The miniatures used were for fantasy gaming from Grenadier Models. I'm not sure if they're still in production.
TauntaunScout, Reaper Bones has some interesting lizardmen miniatures with and without armor. While they're bigger in scale (around 28mm) than WEG 25mm, the Anointed People are pretty tall (2.5m according to Wookieepedia). _________________ Currently playing D&D 5E and painting an unholy amount of miniatures. |

Interesting... interesting...
I shall have to look at Reaper. I have just discovered that the Grenadier ones shown on page 32, as you mentioned, are in fact still in production! At least some of them. Mirlton Miniatures has the molds. But they are in Italy and thus, expensive.
The hut on page 32 looked really cool too, and you need a bunch of them to make the map shown in the adventure. But no one sells a suitable hut so I made my own from sculpy, made a latex mold, and have started churning them out in plaster of paris. Not sure how many is too many.
So have you run the longshot campaign? |

Not sure about scaling, but Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k both feature lizardmen. They should be available still. _________________ The only words of explanation you need for any concept in the entire Star Wars universe are the words Science Fiction and Space Opera. |

Not yet. My group's been busy lately, so I've just been reading every Star Wars RPG book - WEG, d20, and Saga. Only five or six books left.
"Tests of the Godking" just stuck in my mind (it's such a neat little adventure). Plus, I must have thumbed through the Miniatures book more times than I can count. _________________ Currently playing D&D 5E and painting an unholy amount of miniatures. |

I've ran the "Tests of the Godking" adventure in a few campaigns but it's been over 20 years since the last time and I don't have any strong memories of them. I remember the players and I generally liking the adventure. If I take a look at it and it jogs any memories, I'll share them. _________________ *

Thanks for all the advice so far.
I have older 1990's Warhammer Fantasy Battles lizardmen (they haven't existed in 40k since around 1987) but the style of the plastics just seems "off" next to the metal Star Wars guys.
One of the funny things about this adventure is, if you read between the lines, the "medieval" society represented in it is (apparently) a parody of the SCA, for anyone who's familiar with it. A lot of it seems to be making fun of SCA hobby norms.
I am going to try to convert the final battle into a miniatures scenario. I think to do that I'm going to have to have a contingent of Unwashed archers, and give the Annointed some kind of mounts to ride on. |

Whoa! Most of the lizardmen models from page 32 of SWMB are still being sold!
http://www.mirliton.it/product_info.php?pName=lizardmen-mabuyan-warriors&cName=fantasy-2528mm-lost-lizardmen-world
and...
http://ironwindmetals.com/store/index.php?cPath=365_388
Basically only two poses from that old pic are still missing. So I guess I know which models to use!
Edit: considering how to make an Anointed PC! Call me harsh, but I want to kill off a PC in this adventure, I think it sets the right tone for any campaign to have an early heroic death. So whichever hapless player it is will need a new character, maybe I'll give them the option of taking a lizard alien with them when they leave Masterhome.
Edit: Further model success! I found a loose copy of the Martian Metals lizard warrior. So I will have all the guys from the book. Made some deals and did some research and came up with the following army of tin lizzies.
1 Lizardman Hero from page 32. Might need to use him as Godking Trisstan.
10x Godlings on foot, from page 32.
5x mounted Godlings, these are "Igaunid on Thecodent" by Mirliton. Usually lizardmen are mounted on raptors but that looks too terran for me. These "thecodents" look truly alien. While SWMB shows infantry, mounted knights are the ones in the scenario as published, so I'll need at least one squad.
10x unwashed archers. Not really part of the published scenario, they'll be necessary to adapt it to SWMB. I'm going to use Mirliton's "Iguanid archers & slingers". In addition, I might need to convert a lizardman specialist or 3 with blaster pistols. Otherwise it might just be a joke of a miniatures battle.
I'm not really sure how the Iguanids will base up. So fingers crossed they'll fit on 1x1 inch bases, or 2x1 for the cavalry. |

I'm running it tonight! For any other GMs that might be thinking of running this, my opening crawl for the adventure may be of interest...
