If I recall correctly, I think Wizards of the Coast introduced the concept of hardness or damage threshold for objects. I'm not talking about Hull dice or armor being able to reduce damage from physical or energy attacks. I mean about something - like a blaster, a computer terminal, or a vibroblade - having a set amount of damage points or hit points per se. As the item sustains damage, it loses these damage points, it becomes probe to malfunctions. Once it loses all damage points, it breaks down or breaks. You need to repair it to restore its damage points and make it functional again. Either that or you get a replacement. Is there something like this for d6?

Well, STR value of the object is a combo of WotC's hardness and wound points.
If the object STR roll> damage (in d20 if damage < hardness) = nothing happens.
If the STR<damage, object suffers lightly, heavy damage ect., depending on the roll. Same in d20, rolled amount that passes the hardness goes to wound points. Wound points = 0, object is destroyed.

Standard items typically have a strength code of 2D character scale damage. They take damage like normal, 16 over the item's soak code and it's destroyed. GM's can give bonuses and penalties to an item's soak as they see fit. I can't remember the page number.
